Currency of the 'Verse...

Yeah, they sure are. I resized mine this morning and they're HUGE. My son asked me to print him out a set and is quite happy with his "Serenity" money. I'm going to hold off on printing any more on the good stock until someone (moffeaton maybe?) gets their screen used ones from Propstore of London and can give a definitive confirmation of the size.

Here's how mine compares to the picture in the books:

Photoshop tells me the colored area is 7.8685 x 3.825 inches
and that the entire bill is 8.123 x 4.078 inches

which leaves a give-or-take 1/8" border.

Thanks for the shots, Kaylee. That's about what my new ones look like in comparison to the old.

BTW, What's the signature on your bill?

(edited post to add photoshop-checked dimensions. :) )

And the signature is Nathan Fillion.

Thanks, Kaylee.

I'm adjusting the size of my files. If matt or blubeetle or someone wants to host 'em again, gimme a holler. :)

Jay - do you see a problem if I was to just adjust the file that was already posted? I've already done so, and it looks fine to me (but then, what the hell do I know).

Shouldn't be any different than what I did on my end.

You folks that might want the color to be more faded: is there a need for me to provide such a file? I could do it easily, but you should be able to accomplish the same result with your print settings.

I was about to make a version that included the white border, but it falls outside the printer margin (on mine, anyway) if you print horizontally (which is handy for putting two to a page). The non-border version squeaks by.

I should have one of the money displays arriving from Propstore of London in the next few days aswell. So confirmation shouldnt be too far away. :)

BUGGER.

I already printed out like 22,000 dollars worth. (Not that it COST me 22,000. Like 22,000 of the 'verse money. Ah, you know what I meant.)

I was perfectly happy with them in ignorance, BUT, now that I know they're on the small side, it'll work on me.

Ignorance is bliss. Viva la ignorance.

Here are some money bands I redrew in Illustrator. Not perfect, but the price is right.

1.) *Bump back to the top.

2.) Does anyone have any photos of how ^these^ bands would look "in use"?

3.) Why are there different colors in the same denominations?

I chose to make some in different colors just to give folks options regarding display.

Only the "gold" color is canon — based on page 15 of the "Making of" book.

If you have a graphics program and the matching font (Batman Forever), you could change the colors and the denominations.

I don't think we have any pics of the bands 'in use' on the set...

Thanks Mike. Next question. Do we have any knowledge of the correct dimensions? In other words, if one printed them out what would the diameter across be? I guess length could be adjusted to the thickness of the stack of bills.

If you base the size on how real world bill wraps work, you'd be able to put one edge at the bottom of the bill, wrap it around the bundle, and end up with about 1/2" of overlap. RW wraps also have a sticky surface about 1" in length on both ends. If anyone is real anal about it I can grab one from work and measure it all out for real.

Keeping in mind you'd need to adjust sizing for the larger 'verse bills.

Russ

Assuming the real bills are 4 inches tall, then scaling the band so all of the denominations are visible on the 'front' or 'top' of the stack of bills yeilds a width of about 1.25 inches (maybe a little smaller if you so desire).

Depending on how thick a stack of $10,000 is, you'll have to lengthen the blank areas of the band to wrap all the way around.

I modified the gold bands into these:

I'll be printing some up tomorrow, should look pretty good.

wow this is so awesome, so do we have a dimension to print the paper yet, an accuarate one? i got my photo printer ready to go, im buying paper tomorrow and want to get me some money.. thanks guys

I printed one off, and it turned out smaller then the one in the book...I printed it just a couple centimeters too small, and made the border too thin as well.

Otherwise, it looks great - I got each side to line up almost perfectly.
