Cosplay Problems

most people pick a hotel right by the con, i did. 1 block away. other people i saw were getting changed in the parking lots and bathrooms. dont ask me where they stored their stuff

Where and how do you get dressed in the outfits that can't be suited up at home? E.g. armors (IM, sw, Halo)?
Must be some crazy stories about just equipping.

i live in northern ireland over here we dont get allot of cons and only one i can go to which is Qcon. whyle we do have some pretty nice costumes over here you never get anything of the level of the stuff here on the rpf mostly store bought costumes or a friend of mine who does make some pretty nice stuff. my iron man suit was (not to toot my own horn or anything) one of the best most elaborate costumes that had ever been there and my iron man suit aint great lol.
i had this whole plan to make a dramatic entrance theres an elevator that goes right into the convention hall and my iron man suit has a speaker in the back plate i was going to walk of the lift with shoot to thrill blasting form my suit. but the con gave us no where to change privately and i wanted to make an impact. we ended up getting in the lift and making it go up and down between the top 2 floors untill we got changed my girl friend was getting into my warmachine. totally worth it though i got a round of aplause and we where swarmed for pics it was a good day

plus since its "armor" everyone has the need to hit it. people are ignorant!

this drives me nuts i only have one armoured suit but every one thinks they can punch it or try to trail parts of me. an no offence but some anime fan girls are kinda excentric i had one run up and jump on my back whyle i was in my foam iron man suit cracked all the paint round the shoulders i was furious

From the one time I cosplayed as R.J. MacReady, the three main problems I had were as followed:
1. Heat - I was dressed in a gray T-shirt over a thermal shirt, so I was sweating a lot. I had sunglasses on with felt pieces on the sides to mimic glaicer glasses, which didn't allow for the heat to escape the area around my eyes, so it fogged up the lenses.
2. Weight - Weight was another issue for me, as I was lugging around a flamethrower pack that probably weighed as much as the real thing. This one may vary between each cosplayer, depending on what they've got on and its weight.
3. Maneuverability - Going forward was easy, but going backwards or turn around was a bit of a pain, as I would often either be bumping into someone or something by accident or still being in the way of someone else due to the flamethrower pack.
