When doing the hair are you cutting the hair in half then latch hooking or latch hooking the whole length and trimming it up after?

On this build I cut the hair in half (24 inches) and latched it in at 12 inches!

TBH I think it was a little too long so on my next build I'm latching it in at 8 inches, maybe a little longer on the forearms. SO I will get 3 lengths from the one braid instead of 2.

U are much better off latching at the length u want it at, rather than trimming it later. That goes for the hair punching too particularly the moustache.

I mixed some dark brown #4 about 50/50 with grey #44
or u could use black #1, thought it looked beter with dark brown.

#44 is way too grey on it's own.

After a long wait for the mesh you have used I started some practice latching with thin cotton just so I can get the method down, and now I'm ready to try the hair but I thought I might ask if you used a special tool to determine how much and how big each strand of hair is or did you go by instinct.
