You happen to be willing to trade a black and tortoiseshell TF Johnson for 1 dark havana?Isn't gio's post about the lens color? I have also studied 453s, and from what I have researched, the early Dark Havanas tend to have more light colors and the later ones less. The lenses on the later Dark Havanas seem to be a bit rounder, but I compared three different 453s from different eras and the lens shape was exactly the same.
And what side is that?Nah bruh, on your side
Good grief man I only have an issue with one person here. Who cares. We are all adults here. Regardless I had to block him because of literal harassment. Guy is a nut job. I could have exposed his behavior to the forum but I'm not THAT petty. This crap will blow over. I get along with anyone and everyone, so anyone else I'd invite you to consider to stay, if not on my behalf, stay to keep the community. That goes for everyone. Happy holidays! And what side is that?
There are no sides - it's a shame, these forums regardless of subject matter always go the same way.
Of course we have a (very small) group of people with differing opinions, personalities and preferences but for the longest time this forum was an exception in that it never veered from the warm, supportive and respectful conversation and tone.
That seems to be gradually fading - not just because of yesterday's conversation - it would be cheap to lay it at one persons feet - it's been happening for 12 months and more.
When i found this forum during covid I couldn't believe my luck. I'm rubbish at Id'ing frames - I'd been wanting the frames from the end of Spiderman homecoming for ages - turns out the available model was a recreation by Initium (who I'd never heard of) - within a month of joining this group I'd found and purchased them on Ebay for £111, thanks to this group, and since then I've got myself a whole drawer full of awesome Stark/Downeyjr frames - all thanks to this group but usually one or two people whose ID'ing skills are insane.
Anyway - I really appreciated the vibe and fellowship within the group but that seems to have pretty much gone and so am I!
This thread is yours. I think you should just publish the exchange between you and me as it is. I tried to give you an opinion but it didn't work. I'm leaving this place for you. Also, if you use images obtained from this place without permission on Bay and sell them, be sure to get permission from the creator. Thank you to all my old friends for a long time. It was a very fun place.Good grief man I only have an issue with one person here. Who cares. We are all adults here. Regardless I had to block him because of literal harassment. Guy is a nut job. That timberline is an attractive looking pair. Reminds me of a JF Rey 1490 I was eyeing for a long time. That must be 55mm width or so. Probably a good bit smaller than 62mm?Damn, didn't expect me asking if it's a good idea to wear the Initium 3000's as a regular pair of glasses would've cascaded into this.
Glad you guys were able to figure it out, though! in my opinion I did not take any offense from MauriSSio from saying they look "silly", however I do also agree that most people on this forum are passionate towards these glasses, so I could see how calling them that could come off a little insensitive (again, I take no offense in this). Anyway, I think what Naihanchi said is also true, different people can pull off different things. Like one pair of glasses might suit someone's face type compared to someone else's. Either way, I'm pretty confident that the Initium 3000s won't look too bad, both in general (because they did make the frames smaller than the Bromleys), but also personally for me as well because I have been wearing Kirkland Signature Timberline (photo attached) for the past couple years, and you can clearly tell they have taken a lot of inspiration from the Bromleys. Anyway, from what I've heard (from friends and family) these frames look good on me, so I don't think that the Initiums will look too bad either.View attachment 1887001View attachment 1887005
I have been searching for the MT Bromleys and the TF Johnsons frames for a very long time now (hence why I temporarily settled with the glasses I currently have), but after finding this forum, I was finally able to learn the names of the frames that I have been looking for from you guys and actually feel like I'm getting somewhere in my search to hopefully own these frames sometime in the near future, and I greatly appreciate that!
Again, if anyone knows of any websites or stores where I could potentially get my hands on these, and would be willing to share, I will be forever grateful (I was hoping to buy a pair for myself as a Christmas present).
If someone owns either the Mosley Tribes Bromley and/or the Tom Ford Johnson/Stacy, and are willing to sell them, I am open to a fair price.
Thanks guys and I hope you all have a great day!
That black and purple looks killer. That timberline is an attractive looking pair. Reminds me of a JF Rey 1490 I was eyeing for a long time. That must be 55mm width or so. Probably a good bit smaller than 62mm?
Yeah it's a beauty. I ended up getting the JF REY 3012. Great looking frame The Spectacle Factory dude says he would recommend RDJ try out. Great glasses but I always look at the purple and think of what could have been. That black and purple looks killer.
They are pretty sturdy. I feel like they could be daily drivers. I should wear mine more often.Hey guys, quick question for anyone who owns a pair of Initium 3000. I was planning on buying myself a pair and putting my prescription lenses in them and using it as my daily pair. Was just wondering how the build quality is and if it will be durable enough to withstand being worn everyday? (I'm pretty careful and gentle with my glasses in general, but I was curious in this case as they aren't a renowned brand).
I am somewhat hesitant. On the one hand I respect their heritage, but on the other I'm a car guy at heart. I'm not scared to cut into the sheet metal of a classic car (like a 69 mach 1 mustang) so dipping a frame in some dye isn't that huge of a deal. I'm torn. 50/50Honestly I'd be more hesitant to dye them than to adjust them. Adjusting is reversable and these are vintage collectibles.
