BSG - If you can't buy it, make it!

Oldzey can you do a side by side comparison post of the old decals the new decals and maybe the real prop pic?

No problem - here you go... old, new, real:

You guys are realy tempting me to buy a phone. I've already considered doing a wall (its only like 2 FT or so wide, but 10 FT tall) as a small section of BSG wall, with the ID'ed light and stuff. And me thinks a phone would look realy cool there. Dang it....

My phone arrives tomorrow - looks like there are 3 TA-954/TTs (1 pair, 1 single) up on the Bay.

They're from the same guy I bought mine from - seller's name is "fredfhones".

Nice guy - good communication and he sent me a UPS tracking number the next day.

OK, what say we all? Decals a go?

Looking good to me! The only thing else I would be interested in would be an alternate set, since I've got 2 phones on the way (should be here Thursday). The other phone of this type that was up for auction was Station 12.

So would you want different station numbers or different sec or hall numbers?

Everything looks great - my only 2 cents I have to add is that the "sec or hall numbers" should be elongated as you can see that sticker and associated font is wider than the number pad.

Thanks for all the discussion on these phones - they're close to becoming reality! :thumbsup

Didn't see that version before, but you are 100% correct.

The LS-386 was more clearly shown, probably from redressing hallways.

They used different versions through out the ship, notice here it is a IC-KAA and look how the phone cord goes into the intercom, and also note the different custom base on the wall.

To complete the hallway phone setup (once we get some stickers :love), we should try & figure out what the box w/ blue lights to the right is.

Had to start now...

Nice job so far, Sean!

There should be enough 'military manuals' on the web to download & printout, but 2.5" of printouts is alot of paper! I'd just grab paper from the recycle bins at work.

I'm sure you'll get the font right, but just wondering where you got the art of the Viper? You do it yourself?

I just emailed Scott the Graphics dude with the list of questions including prices.

Last thing is the greeble on the top of the phone. I am making one out of 80 ABS .

Here's what I mean (pardon the amateur attempt at resizing)

I used www.fotoflexer.com to play around with the image your friend made...

Original (reduced size keeping same h/w proportions):

Resized (same h, elongated w,):

Not sure where he got his, but I found it here:

Make sure to click the link on the page to download the high res version.

I was messing with the manual myself just for fun.
The Viper should be flipped so I'm going to fix the type in Photoshop.

BTW - The new stickers look much better, but I'm going to use my own.

I saw that right away and told him to recheck his measurements. The actual sticker should be 2 3/8 by 3/4

Thanks! I was just thinking of using blank paper of that same color. The viper was found on the web then reversed, then I re-reversed the type, as lonepigeon said.
