Backbone (Slow) Pred Build, Wip

Wow man! I absolutely love you'r mask and bio! I thought the teeth design on the bio was wicked and the little swirly designs on the mandibles of the mask were gorgeous!

I love the mask, it looks fantastic. The paint job was brilliantly done and I must thank you for describing all you'r steps so thoroughly with names and pictures too! I'm learning a lot from just reading all of this and will surely come back to it in the future when I get to work on my stuff.
Really love what you have done with the bio and the mask and look forward to seeing more.

Happy Hunting and good luck  :D  - Tachiri.

Glad I could be of service :)
I always love being able to go back and see what others do alongside the explanation. I'm eager to see what you come up with.

It's been slow but I got allot done. The harness is closed with 1 buckle on the back. This buckle allows the whole thing to be removed. I'm going to make the back armor tonight. For the other shoulder I have the dome of a p2 skull. I'm going to do a little battle damage to it also.

Your build is absolutely amazing!  I'm nearly twice your age and am extremely jealous of the amount of talent you have!  I love that you did your mask and body suit out of silicon and plastidip!  I'm allergic to latex, and it's extremely difficult to make certain cosplay items (mask, hands, feet of pred, for example) when you are allergic to latex.  Knowing it can be done without using it will be very useful for my next build.  You have some wicked sculpting talent, by the way.  Have you taken any classes or just picked up some clay and went at it?

Thankyou very much, I'm just kicking around with anything other than latex. Really just because I never want it to fall apart from dry rot. I want it to last for a really long time.
I never took any classes, I started this sculpt in the summer. I have only sculpted a few small things with crayola clay. It was definitely a learning curve. Took me forever to sculpt.

I have an update. I just couldn't get things rolling like I wanted so I took a step back and just finnished up assembling and painting the back armor. Now I need to attach straps and a buckle to wrap the back armor down to it. Then I'll be good on torso armor. I also have some netting to cover him with. It's just fishing net but Irs the look I want.

I used water based clay. I got a 25lb block from hobby lobby for pretty cheap. You just have to constantly spray water on it and cover it with wet paper towels to keep it from drying out. Time consuming but is very simple and easy to clean up.

Thanks, it's a labor of love. Now I just gotta give him a good unruly mane. I'm planning on carving out the molds using cnc. I'm also welding the frame together for the animatronic under skull.

I haven't done much, but Ill have more materials in a few weeks here. I do post more pictures on my Instagram: henrymassey33. There's more than just predator stuff I make though. Anyways back to my predator, I made an armored glove to go with the gauntlet. Craft foam works wonders. I don't know why I never tried using it before. I do a couple of heavy coats with a self etching primer before I paint, it has this weird effect on the foam. Pretty much gives it the properties of leather.

Your skills are amazing. I'm 47 and I can not sculpt like that. All together the wip is cool, keep it up. I'm sure you will give him a good name...

Thankyou, My sculpture was horrifying at first. I thought I was finnished then. I was told to keep working on it untill it frustrated me, and then work on it more. Taking the advice, over time It evolved into what I wanted. Anybody can sculpt like a pro, it just takes hard work, lots of patience, and time. For the name I just can't decide yet. I know he shall be a bad blood of the sorts.

I wanted to finnish before holloween but sadly they messed up my hours at work and gave me less than half of what I was supposed to get. It has been corrected but I won't get the rest untill my next check lol so holloween is a no go. Ive spent 3 years working on him, I can spend a few more months to ensure the quality I want.

I haven't made much progress but I finnaly sculpted the hands, one has been molded amd cast in dragon skin 10 medium and the other is waiting for the same treatment. I'll post some pictures when I can find a computer.

The mold for the right hand is in the background but this is the right hand cast in dragon skin. I'm going to do a second one that is better but I have the mold for the left hand waiting to be trimmed and opened.
