Backbone (Slow) Pred Build, Wip

Just now seeing this thread.     Amazing work on all your sculpting.   You are already a way better sculptor than me.  You really need to keep up at this and keep practicing.   Your Bio design is fantastic.   really, seriously good work here.

Recent shot I took now that he's all spiked out. Next is the dreads.

Hey Dude, I am really liking your paint job. What kind of paint did you wind up using?
Than you, i added oil paint too silicone then thinned it out with naphtha. Ran through my airbrush just fine, and It's a perfect permanent bond. When stretched or flexed it doesn't crack or peel. I love this stuff.

Hey guys, I haven't had much morivation or time lately but I'm gonna try and get some more done. I have shoulder armor I made from leather and allot of bones I have saved. I just moved so progress is going to be a little slow but I now have my own space for sculpting molding casting ect.

Heh heh... The pictures of the bones on your shelves reminds me of when I was in the AirForce. I was working on a Klingon Goddess costume and was collecting bones for her armor. Fellow Airmen would showup at my door with bits and pieces they would find in the fields (we were stationed in Texas at the time so it was everything from goat vertebrae to rabbit skulls, to cattle ribs) Everyone nicknamed my dorm room... The Bone Room. On the weekends you would find me on the side of the barracks, chemical bleaching them. My First Shirt never really gave me any flak, but did express his opinion on my weirdness from time to time. Ahhhhhh.... memories.

Collecting bones over here in ky means pretty much the same stuff, I often get asked if I'm becoming a witch doctor lol. I'm surprised when I hear of someone making a costume while in the military. Seems like a very challenging task.

Thanks guys, I made a little progress. I'm gonna continue to work on my foam muscle suit. Starting with a coat of plasti dip. Keeps any layers I put I top from soaking in too much.

Hey Henry this is looking quite good. It appears you have good movement with your arms. I have to ask you one more question about that paint. What did you use as your silicone base for the paint?

Thanks, Jeff

I thought It would be very restrictive, I am happily wrong.
I used 100% pure silicone caulk. Not the expensive GE stuff. I went to the dollar general. I found that their stuff is just silicone. Nothing else too it. When mixed with paint it does tend to lose some elasticity though. I put a heavy clear coat on of silicone and it stayed decently stretchy for me.

That looks amazingly good! I am really excited about this technique you're using in your bodysuit. I am planning on using a related method, only with fabric covering the foam muscle. I'm hoping to get a similar result.

I found that Plasti dip leaves a much smoother surface on cloth. It's just like the MR I suit method, only using a polyurethane( plastidip) vs liquid latex. Thankyou for the compliment :)

Hey that's looking really good! I was doing a sculpture for my suit, but it didn't turn out well, so now I'm planning on doing this same method you are using. I was wondering are you going to be putting latex on top of the plasti dip, or does it serve as an alternative to liquid latex? Thanks. And again, it's turning out great
