Adam Ant, Then and now

My thrift store find today...

The original has a square buckle and I will search for it but will likely just make it. The second buckle is far more rare and I will make it from sheet brass as I have already spent many unsuccessful hours trying to find it to purchase.

I did get a second black belt today as well. Both were 5.50 each. A good day for just wandering about. Coincidence is, the second belt had no buckle. I thought that was fate for a belt I am going to hand make the buckle for....
 
Good find: you're going to add the golden rivets on the belt holes I gather...and paint some of the studs. As for that buckle...maybe a special spur belt buckles?

Quick stop on earrings. I have only ever seen two. The first is a standard loop, estimating 3/4 inch.

The second one I see only in his highwayman outfit and I would put a dollars bet on saying it is the same earring but with a skull and bones added to the loop. Or vice versa and his current loop is from the original earring....

Ran into Michael's Crafts and grabbed this bag of loops in a kit. $3.99

I tried the larger set and it looked too big. The smaller set looks correct and I guessed very closely with my earlier estimate of 3/4 inch diameter. Here is my progression of turning a normal spring back earring into a clip-on for a non pierced ear (like mine).

The one on the left was squeezed a bit closer so the spring clip would snug on my ear lobe.

I'm sure clipons are available in this size but this worked for me.

I have a set of skull and crossbones charms ordered and will update to the Stand and Deliver earring for the "then" poses.

I think I might take this a lot more serious because we have quite a great collection of print files already with Jintosh's thread on 3d prints. I was holding out on learning the new software but this will likely push me back to it. The skull and both buckles would be great 3d projects. At the very least, I will fall back on posting some quality images and outlines, aka old school replication methods for cutting, sculpting or casting. Maybe I can work on providing more resources to the media section.

And a total of three chains (identification or source would be appreciated).

And a look back to "Then", we see one like a rope and another very long chain, possibly the same rope?

I am really on the fence on this loop earring color. In most images I can see it is more gold than the silver items near it but it does not have the strong shade of yellow gold. Possibly a white gold but not true silver?
 
My replica buckle ring came in. It is close to size and is a match on shape. The color is chrome plate as compare to Adam's true silver ring but it will work for cosplay when Adam's ring isn't nearby to make mine look bad..... ;)

You could buy some frosted glass clear spray, and it would knock the shine back to a dull finish. Might help in making it appear a little more like real silver.

Looks like the coin is an old large English copper Penny? The silver heart pendant gemstone maybe a garnet ?

I would put money on that. I saw an interview not with Depp but about him. They described his gathering of trinkets and hair ties, for Jack Sparrow, exactly the same as Adam described his belt charms per "Funky" (above). However, this may well be Depp's doing more than the designer, as his street wear seems to follow ten years behind Adam as well.
