The PKE in GB was a rented "generic" prop from a prop house, not a prop made for GB as was a few of the other props in GB... I'm sure someone will chime in with the name of the prop house... It was also used in "Suburban Commando" with Hulk Hogan

The Sterling was the standard British Army service gun from 1953 until 1988, licensed to Canada and also India that still uses them today so yeah it was a bit popular... You will see a bunch of them used in old Dr. Who episodes
I was watching "They Live" (with Rowdy Roddy Piper) this evening and noticed a really strange prop crossover - the alien guards were all carrying Ghostbuster PKE meters as tracking/communication devices. They looked to be exact copies of the PKE with working arms and chasing lights, not just some close-enough wannabes. There were multiples of the meter so I'm assuming these were built just for this movie (as opposed to leftovers from the GB production).[/b]

It's kinda cool to see the sterlings in their full, unmodified get up. They actually make quite a few appearances in the older movies. I guess they were realy popular back then.[/b]
