Ultimate 66 Inch Enterprise In Action

I love to see when hobbyists take something they've created and do kewl things with them! :cool

Scott (Capt Cardboard) once showed me a video clip he did of his 6 foot Discovery that turned out tremendously well. VERY professional looking! He then showed me his setup... He used a video camera, a single light, a black background, and an HO scale train setup which the camera set on top of. Very kewl indeed!

That's a great looking model!

Is this one that you make to sell Ron, or did you do a build-up of one that someone else makes?

Thanks for sharing the videos and pics!

Thank you for seeing the videos.
The colors of the digital video are washed out pink inside the warp domes, and this is a problem with using these cameras.
... I'm looking to get an old 8mm movie camera going to capture the total essence...of a starship.
I have not tried to sell any starships.
It has been a fun project that about 10 of us worked on, some made parts for the starships.
Others designed the warp domes, lighting systems, shuttlecraft, decals, or donated the documentation pix I used (that were taken before, during and after Miarecki's resto of the original 11 ft. model).
This starship is half scale of the 11, and the plans I used were drawn by a buddy of Miarecki's during that summer ED M rebuilt the Enterprise. So I know the outlines are exact to those plans..
Looking at Miarecki's resto of the 11, and how the lines on the secondary hull have a certain purposefull layout to them I felt that I could trust his lines since he is known for doing his homework.. He studied the original, then restored it after all...And alot better than ever before, (the original 11ft starship was a horrible dull gray in the 1980's incorrectly painted all one color)...
So armed with good pix of all the lines (including some unflattering pix showing tiny screws on the originals engines)... I decided to go the extra mile...
... and lay down the welded steel plates on the hull.
Those lines are there, only paper thin, just like the original Enterprise now has.

I will show more closeups of the hull plating in my next video, when a shuttlecraft flys along the ship and lands in the shuttle bay.
I'm working on that now.

Ron

I would love to see high res pics of this shanko Ent.

I dont think there would be any shame if your 66 shanko model which costs half the price wasnt 100%. The ship looks great. However I do find the pics and vids so small that your enterprise could be 12 inches long or 120 inches long.:cool It does defeat the purpose to have such a large model but only show tiny pics. If you cant get bigger pics it would be good to try more light and a tripod.

Rshanco- Hey man, very nice ship you have here! You inspire me to get out there and attempt something like this. I liked the video you produced too! Keep up the good work.

This is the second time the same parties have needed to be publicly warned.

This is Ron's showoff thread. He can call his model anything he wants. "Ultimate", "God-Given", "Most Super Fantastic Ever"....anything.

You other guys are phenomenal talents but it is really disheartening to see the "prop snobbery" being displayed here. It makes you look insecure about your own efforts. If your work is so great, (and it is), it will be plain if you just showed it.

In case it wasn't clear before: STAY OUT OF RON'S THREADS. YOU ARE TROLLING, WHICH IS AGAINST THE RULES.

If you would like to show off your own work, and even present your own versions of whatever facts you think need to be corrected, fine, but not in an argumentative way. Start your own thread, show off your work and let your impressive skills speak for themselves. There is absolutely no reason to put down someone else's.

...and for the record, Ron has not once complained to the mods. He didn't need to.

If anyone posts one more word of this back and forth nonsense (in any thread) they'll be restricted from posting for two weeks. The next post in this thread, and all that follow, better well be on topic.

I know I would love to see better pics and some in progress pics of the build as well. I've only worked in smaller scales, but love the big stuff. It would be awesome to get some pointers and learn new techniques. Especially for the larger stuff. Any plans on a "building of" thread.

Ron,

Looking forward too seeing the multiple starships together, it's sure to be an awesome sight.
Your Enterprise looked absolutely stunning in your last video - it really does look spot on!

As a matter of fact I think the video looks very good, I like the spinning domes. As for the rest of it, I have friends on both sides of this issue so I'm trying to stay out of it.

Thanks guys.
I'm glad to be able to entertain you once in a while.

Last night I was going to post pix of the stand I found to mount the model on, and I took the pix, but Viliage photos was off line and I couldn't upload them.

The mods here really do help keep threads sensible. Thank you RPF.
I've seen pure insanity on forums without moderation, and the members who flourish in that situation lack any morals apparently...
Anyway,
I'm looking forward to cutting the "mooring wires" and doing a pipe mount on my starship.
The bluescreen is next.

Starship Update:
For some time I've really been focused on only building one starship at a time, and that special starship will be an exciting addition to a collector's
peices that he shows.
Star Trek productions have asked about starships, there is a demand for a professional ship builder to produce starships but I am working on only one right now.
So whoever said kits are being sold is misinformed.
I make no kits, sell no kits, only building one starship.
I enjoy the fun that Star Trek modeling gives me.
Thanks
Ron

C'mon man that wasn't necessary, I know you're pissed, but you've just insulted about 130 people from this and other boards.

Did they take it too far? Probably, but mistakes were made on both sides that fueled this thing. I would like to see it stop personally, but you have to admit, and I'm not trying to be negative here, but if you label something Ultimate, you'll have to expect that type of reaction, that's just human nature.

I watched this project from the beginning and I know how much work you put into it, and it's a very small minority of people that can make something like you've made, but shooting down other's work isn't the way to go, that just causes animosity towards you.

Relax, and be humble and you'll find much more support thrown your way.

This is a bald faced lie. You had posted over on Dewback wing, until Mycroft posted that your were under scrutiny last night, that you had 4 more kits for sale. Once you read that post you went straight to Dewback and edited it out - but too late because it was seen.

And you're still doing heavy editing over there now.

You not selling these now? was it due to getting C&D or in antiscipation of one?

If your not selling anymore can we see larger pics? I`d not be concerned about detractors - theres enough people wanting a good look out of pure interest rather than to cause trouble.

Back to topic.
My Enterprise model is the Ultimate 66.

Ron, just because people have reacted in extremely bad form to your statements and are being reprimanded for it, it doesn't mean you are privileged to some sort of RPF protected status. Continually goading them encourages the perception that you're inviting, even thriving, on the controversy. This is "baiting", which is also against the CoC.

You've had two threads now about your bird and, while the victim of extremely inappropriate behavior, have not exactly been Snow White yourself. I think you've had ample time to brag about your model, so this is the end.

Regarding the trollers, the following is from the RPF staff in general:

Some might think this model isn't so hot. Some might think Ron was showing more ego than skill.

It doesn't matter.

We've all seen plenty of show-off threads of arguably questionable pieces made by guys some folks might not like. That doesn't give any of us the right to start a crusade against someone. And that's exactly what this is, a crusade.

It ISN'T about protecting members from a scammer, 'cause there has been no evidene of Ron not delivering what someone has paid for. What this IS about is protecting the interests of other people making a competing product. All of these guys that are so rabidly campaigning against Ron have an interest in someone else's Enterprise model.

But instead of letting the pictures do the talking and letting people make up their own minds about this a small group of malcontents that feel threatened by Ron's model are going WAY out of their way to viciously attack Ron, the model, and anyone else that might have a different view.

This thread has been pruned of much ugliness, but it was the tip of the iceberg compared with what was said in PMs that have been forwarded to us, as well as the utterly disgusting and foulmouthed bile posted on another forum. While we try not to pay too much attention to what is expressed outside our own house, links to that "discussion" were posted here by the participants, which is almost as bad as posting them here directly.

It's one thing to state an honest opinion about someone's work, positive or not. It's completely different for competitors to persist making personal attacks in someone else's show off thread.

The worst part: Mycroft Holmes stated on that forum that he alerted Paramount to Ron's efforts. That is an extremely serious action that the RPF views with the utmost disdain.

These folks are extremely talented, have been active participants in the forum and have displayed phenomenal work.

That doesn't matter either. No amount of RPF cred makes one immune from the same rules of behavior we all must follow.

We usually prefer to keep the RPF experience as smooth as possible for the average member by handling these matters behind the scenes. But at times, the lack of a public statement has given some the impression that people have been allowed to "get away" with making trouble, so we feel compelled to draw back the curtain a bit in this instance.
