The Movies That Made Us, Netflix Series

Fired up the christmas one and there's a woman narrating it that I don't remember. did they release the christmas ones with the brittish guy and change it to a woman or something? Or am I just stroking out and I've watched these before and never noticed that batch had the lady's naration?

No kidding, talk about real trooper. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for him to do that scene take after take with each take hurting even more. That's definitely the sign of a truly dedicated professional, it's a pity that he never made it bigger and that he died so young.
For a time he was in Everything..
Then he fizzled out but Donny Darko and Pointbreak are Brilliant movies..he also pops up in HotFuzz!

Just watched Friday the 13th Episode...
Do they over dub with silly sound effects on every one ?

I found it quite annoying...

All their shows are overly silly by half (at least). Despite the interesting info, the style of delivery is just too much for me.

I think this show is partly tongue-in-cheek. It’s supposed to be a little comedic. It’s here to entertain, not to educate. I just think that many of us adore these movies so much we take it personally if they don’t take it seriously.
….or, is it just me?

Yea, the target audience is folks looking for entertainment. I feel like they're trying to lean into the fact that making a movie is often a bizarre and comical affair; that any movie ever really gets made within the film industry, let alone is enjoyable, is a ludicrous fact all on it's own. so them throwing bad one liners and stuff in is fine by me.

I suspect they also found out that many many of the folks they can get for the show from behind the cameras, are not the best interviewers; being on camera like that is not their happy place or their realm of expertise. this format allows for any of their awkwardness to feel like part of the show, rather than just them being uncomfortable in an interview. I feel like it was a good choice overall.

It's mean and unprofessional to edit in awkward moments from an interview for comedic effect. The person sat down for you, have the courtesy not to make fun of them. Those moments occur in EVERY recorded interview, and there is an unspoken trust that they will not be abused. It is a violation.

i dont remember it ever being rude. its the equivialant of the interviewer saying something went terribly wrong, and hearing the "womp womop womp" sound.
they go the other way to, with triumpany music and celebratory sounds when one of them talks about stuff going well.

they cut small chunks of the different interviewers in with eath other and cuts of the movies, and sounds and music to tell a fun story. it's simply not malicious.
