Survivor Redemption Island

Nice to find a post from Guri. :)

Coming in late to the thread, but been Survivor religious since Season 1.

Can't stand Russell - the only reason he survived through 2 seasons is because nobody saw his first before he played his second. I knew he'd be sent packing ASAP.

Boston Rob is awesome, although he'll never win. Richard Hatch did it first and best, figured it out without the Cliffs Notes, but Rob has found his calling - he's adapting and I love it. When he switched the clue on Rasta-Boy, I rolled... awesome.

Normally I'm all against getting rid of (physically) strong players early in the game for fear of what they'd be able to do after the merge but in the case of Russ I was glad that they got rid of him when they did, even at the expense of throwing a challenge. Russ has shown in the past that he's a constant threat and that the longer he stays in the game the stronger his position gets and before long other "threats" emerge and Russ either become too entrenched to remove or he wins immunity or finds the hidden immunity idol(s).

As for "Agent" Phillip, that guy is certifiable and suffers from diarrhea of the mouth and I find it hard that he could have actually been a Federal agent. No way anybody that loony and lips that loose could have actually been granted the clearance necessary to work as a Federal Agent, at least not as a field agent; maybe as some sort of clerk in a dept. that didn't deal with any sort of sensitive information. However, as whacky and loony that guy is, he is certainly fun to watch; at least whenever he's wearing his swim trunks and not his pinky tighties.

Still enjoying this season even thought this weeks episode was a little dull. Other than the reward/immunity challenge. :thumbsup It was fun watching Ometepe walk all over Zapatera.

Hey there!! :cool I did take a really long hiatus from the board, but I'm more active now than I have been in a long time! Check my stats, making Lost costumes and props has become my new passion...

You know what about Phillip, he's crazy in the way he behaves, but he's also right about a lot of things that set him off. His problem is more an unawareness of how he comes off to other people than misreading them.

He was right about the older girls not being completely on his side in the beginning.
He's right about the younger girls being lazy and useless.
He's right to be suspicious about the Rob and the other guy not seeing him as an equal in their alliance.
He's right about the fire needing to be checked on.

He completely lacks any ability to manipulate people or get on their good side because he quite literally, let's it all hang out. :lol

So Philip was only a "special agent" for 4 1/2 years.

So did he slip through the cracks or did he crack in service?

Because he is definitely a whack-a-doodle.

Probably a combination of diarrhea of the mouth and a complete lack of social skills.

Jeff Probst is amazing... he talked Phil through tribal council with so much skill and tact. I was truly blown away.

Such confidence and wisdom is so rarely seen.

Seriously, that situation could have been, and usually is, a complete disaster and he sailed through it so gracefully.:love

Phillip is a complete tool.

Just watched an episode for the 1st time and I completely agree with this sentiment. In regards to him being a federal agent the only thing I have found online is that he was a special agent with the Defensive Invetsigative Service where he was a background investigator. He conducted interviews for people who needed security clearance. Sounds to me like he his tooting his horn a tad too loud. I don't think I can handle another episode with him in it.

That was an interesting tribal because its one of the few time Jeff Probst really tried to calm things down.

Usually they shoot two to three hours of tribal where Jeff is trying to get them to blow up a bit. Tribal is usually a beginning calm that leads up to taunts and a bit of words that members probably wish they had not said at the end of the evening. They purposely look to get a few less stable people on the show now to stir things up. In a way, too bad Phil and Russel did not have time together, that would have made things quite interesting.

My husband is convinced Jeff is really into the social experiment aspect of the show. Jeff does stir the pot, and he absolutely enjoys it when people are raw and transparent about what's going on.

It's almost as if tribal council is where he tries to make people face their stuff and put it all on display... but last night he also showed that mediator side of himself.

He showed NO fear of the subject and he was so articulate and fair to everyone. I'm such a Probst fan girl. haha!

Agreed, it was amazing. :thumbsup

Probst purposely calmed the situation so Philip would stay, I like Philip, i want him to stay so he helps Rob win, but Philip was wrong and anyone who buys his "Crazy"= the N word is an idiot, he was a crazy butthole period, the race card was ridiculous

Probst has sat threw alot over all these seasons. He can handle anything Phillip can throw at him.
Me and my wife bust a gut laughing everytime that Phillip says someones or a tribes name wrong. He always tries to correct himself and still screws it up.
I seriously hope that he finds his shorts I fear the mouse he's got in that house.
But Ashley!! meow... someone should lose her shorts ;)

I have a feeling that the Survivor crew is going to "help" Philip find his shorts. I hope not, but they probably will. What a jerk. I never liked Rob, but I kind of like how he's just playing to have fun now. He keeps Philip because Philip (or whoever else) distracts everyone so they don't see Rob controlling them. I think it will be funny to see the point where they start getting knocked off and figure out that Rob was playing them. Maybe they'll get smart, but the girls are pretty brainless so far.

All I know is I will think twice before using the word "crazy" again.

I saw that while flipping channels and all I could think of was that I never knew that was another term for that word. Does doing background checks really count as being a government agent?

IMO, Phil is a little crazy/mentally unstable to some degree....or else just socially awkward...maybe it's more of the second one. He's playing a game right now though. I think he' smarter than he lets on but no doubt he's not what I would define as a "normal" or "completely stable" person. I heard The Rock say years ago in an interview that becoming a character is about tapping into a part of you and making it larger than life. In essence, I think that's what Phil is doing.

And yes crazy = The "N" word is just ignorant...he was trying to create more drama and that was the fastest way to do it

Jeff did a great job leveling everyone out though, for sure!

You should follow him on Twitter. He live tweets during the show, and honestly that has become just as much fun as watching the show. Lots of cool insight into the game. Also, I learned a bit about how the much he and the crew know of what's going on during filming. When he goes to Tribal, he doesn't really know what has happened around camp and such, he is just that good at bringing things out of people and running with it.
