Now, in the last pic before painting ('knee pads'), I saw something amazing....the 'thigh tip' has the two tiny rings on its left side :confused, and when viewed from the front, the lateral protrusions also match the refs...

This part is a component of a 'radius rod' which can be found in several AMT 1/25 trailer kits. So far (?), the Fruehauf tanker has been considered the donor kit for this part (general size/angles match). I remember Allan stating that he has spent a fortune on this kit's reboxings/variants to see if the 'radius rods' part renditions were any different.

Now, in addition to the tanker, the AMT Fruehauf flatbed trailer (kit that contains Scott's find - still have to get this one) also has those 'radius rods', and so does the AMT Reefer trailer (per its instructions). There may well be other AMT trailer kits containing this part in their own way.

So, Julien, if you don't mind, is this another find that nails this ID or is it a modded part (in this case, transplanting the two tiny rings would be necessary) ?

Looks stunning bro, i see what you mean on the facial stains now, yeah, lol, i used a graphite pencil and applicator to streak again. I kinda like the look without the scorch mark on the side plate.....something i do kinda think was added, afters its run in with a Snowspeeder in the "dropped" filming shot maybe.
Dont forget the three little "dash" marks on the Marder cheek gun part buddy.

Awesome Julien! Never noticed the 3 dash marks Lee - have to look again.

I agree that the scorch mark on the left side probably makes it look better. It's kind of a "bullseye" distraction when it's on there.

Yeah Scott, not sure if they are paint, or scratch marks, i just added them with a brush on mine....every little helps lol.

I prefer the scorch mark on, but just had to say, it gives a little bit of diversity leaving it off too.

Gotta start a gallery on these soon, as theres a few nearing completion now.....awesome.

Thanks bro, yeah each I was looking at your build when I was building mine I was thinking 'dont forget the 3 dash marks when you'll paint her". Of course I have forgotten. :lol Thanks for pointing it out to me, Ive also noticed I painted the whole marder part black when only the front and top should be black... Now I dont know how to do those marks :/ I will give it a try with some thinner and a cotton bud.

Do you think I should redo my stains on the facia ?

I could leave it without the scorch mark, I too like it like that and this way I wont screw up the paintjob Ive done.
And afaik all the TESB models Ive seen had this scorch mark, so it could be cool to have one a bit different.

I too think both versions were filmed to articially increase the amount of AT-ST's, even if only one is in the final cut because of that matt painting !
I wonder if they still have those footages ?

Julien...leave your facia.....its blooming perfect lol. Your paint up blows mine far away anyhoo, its fantastic.

Julien, just brush on three dash marks in the base color, its all i did and worked perfectly TBH.

Again, leave off the scorch.....i love it without too!

Thanks bro, I think that every of the TESB AT-ST replicas built are different, each one is better than the other on some ways, and none is better than the others.
Would love to see them all on a desk for a family pics !

You handbrushed the marks ? Argh I dont think I have the ability to do so well, I will try but the Tamiya paint is not easy to use with a brush and Im quite bad at this !

Stunning Julien mate, Its great to see you painting again. Care to go through what mediums you've used & how? I'm not that up on the paint for the AT-ST's but if its half as good as Lee's it will be amazing. It certainly does look amazing from where I sit.

I used as usual the Tamiya primer then I did a mix of Tamiya acrylic white and medium grey to get an off white (almost white as the weathering darkened a lot the basecoat), then I used the airbrush to do the basic weathering. After that I did the modulation and washes with oils and enamels, I also used those kind of paint to do the stains, paint chips etc. Some stains were made with amsking tape and airbrushed as the original were.
