Scratch built Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton

Hey guys! Thank you for all of the positive feedback and sorry for my long afk.... I spent most part of late 2015 renovating my new house, so I haven't had much time to work on my endo, but hopefully I'll be able to pick up where I left off soon! :) In my new house I have a proper workshop and more room for my hobby in the basement, so I'll keep you posted as soon as I make progress! ;)

Yes, but I got into a huge setback when making the mold for the skull... I didn't huse enough catalyst, so I have to strip off all of the uncured silicone... and restart..
Hopefully I'll get to remake the mold this weekend..

Hey guys!

Long time no post, but here is finally a pretty solid update!

I've been making a mold of the skull, the first time around I didn't use enough catalyst, so I had to clean the skull and remake the mold from scratch.
Here is the process of the successful mold:

Creating dividing wall:

Then on to the silicone:

I added some fabric to strengthen the mold:

And the bottom:

Last step, hard shell, made from plaster:

And here is the final mold and shell:

I have also been doing some work on other parts, such as the shinguards and lower arm:

I'll keep you posted as soon as I have any updates! I'll try to pull a cast of the skull tomorrow! :)

Thanks guys! :D No I haven't run a cast yet, I wanted to try the resin on a smaller part first since it's been a while since I bought it, but it still works as it's supposed to - so I'm going to run a cast tonight! :) I'll keep you posted!

I wonder, it looks like you put a layer of cloth inbetween the layers of silicone? IS that regular cheese cloth for some additional structure rigidity? I really like that and wonder if anyone has something good/bad to say about it? I'd be interested in doing something like that to give it some more strength.

I tried doing a fiberglass mothermold but my area wasn't hot enough to long enough and it took days for it to finally cure. So I ended up redoing the mothermold using Smooth-On Plastipaste, but oh man, it's heavy.

So you just use regular casting plaster with some fiberglass matt inside?

And the first cast is done, TA-DA:

There is some flash to take care of but nothing major. Overall I'm very happy with the cast! :)

dday
No it's a special kind of fabric called Verranne fiberglass, and is very easy to work with. I can recommend it if you are making molds that needs to be turned inside out! :p
The plaster I'm using is plaster strips and works great. I am however thinking of redoing the shell in fiberglass some day! :p

Nice clean cast! :thumbsup I assume its urethane? rotated casting by hand? good even thickness??

Congratulations, it's a lot of work waiting for you, but it will be wonderful. Do you have an idea of when it will be completed?

Thanks guys! Yeah it's smooth cast 300! Great stuff and very good for rotocasting!
I pulled another cast yesterday and it came out just as good, so the mold is doing it's job! ;)

The Terminator
Haha yep, samlar lite på vintage turtles! ;)
