revision of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

The New York Times' archive actually has quite a few articles about the expedition, if you want to pay to see them. The scans are kinda rough, so you may have to re-set all the type in Illustrator or something.

I was actually poking around in there for quite a while last night, looking for odd articles.

If there are any real-world events that you're including in the diary, replica clippings from the Times might make a cool addition.

And if you're looking to replicate newspaper articles at all, the HPLHS has a couple of handy fonts. They do not allow commercial use of their free fonts, however.

thanks for that - I actually bought their font package so should be ok

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

Kudos to you! I think that's the one thing they sell which I don't own.

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

Any chance of being able to get only the inserts once this project is done?

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

That maybe an option once we've finished but as there is likely to be well over 300+ inserts of various types that we are creating for the 50 years or so of Indy's life, we are not sure if all will be used in journal in the end, if not they maybe offered free like the Ty Cobb Card to RPF Members as a thank you not sure yet but, there will be freebees popping up now and again on this thread as well as updates on our progress and sneak peaks

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

This is an exciting project!
I'm working on my own Lost Journal on and off since about 11/2 years. There'll be two, one for me and one for an old friend of mine. It's gonna be a story journal (the emphasis is on story here... I'm expanding the war years a bit along the lines of the "Laundry Files").

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and I'm looking forward what you guys come up with :thumbsup

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

ok due to some recent emails I have been receiving I'd like to clear a few things up.

WE are not recasting anybody's work and never will whether its part of this project or not that is something i feel very strongly about.

We will use free images and copyright free stuff if we feel it is ABSOLUTELY necessary otherwise we will create our own unique items

We are creating upwards of 300+ one-of-a-kind-original paper props for this project some of which I'm ....sorry WE are very proud of and have spend many weeks researching and getting the details right. and which we are at the moment keeping are under wraps until we have finished this project (may be a few months to a year down the line who knows).

We are however covering Indy's life from age 9 to age 58 so 50 years of his career are going to be in this journal it is going to be approx 250 pages (500 if you count both sides) and literally heaving with inserts from tickets to maps, photos etc most of which we have created for this project and will not be available anywhere else.

We have the greatest and utmost respect for anyone's work and I promise anyone worried out there that unless we get express permission to use your work directly from you we will not use it - we may however use it for reference to create our own to keep the continuity of the project. but even then we will ask permission to do so.

And lastly to quash a few rumors out there... I can confirm that we have been contacted buy a few well 2 high profile individuals (well in the prop-making circles) relating to this project and its completion and they have given there full support and their blessings who they are I'm not telling ....no really I'm not

but I can reveal one thing.... This Project is a lot of fun and I only hope you the Members of the RPF like what we have done ... doing :)

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

I just want to humbly offer my congratulations to all involved in this exciting project. I am sure the love and dedication that you are all pouring into the journal will be reflected in every page. 50 years of Indy's life brought so wonderfully to life? Absolutely awesome!

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

OK, time for another freebie :D

This prop is one of 2 that I have produced, as we didn't know which year would fit in with the timeline.

This is replica of a World Series Baseball ticket for Game 7 of the 1934 Detroit Tigers vs St. Louis Cardinals.

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

Awesome work on this so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to see the finished product. I hope things are better by then so I can snag one.

Below is the video, in two parts, I posted of the Indy Journal I did for fun. I have no idea if anything in there would be of use but if it gives you any ideas or you want to use anything feel free.

If nothing else it's an excuse to show off.

Part 1:
It shows someone elses videos after it's over. I have no idea why.

Re: New "Prop" Version of Indiana Jones Lost Journal

Time for another preview.

Here are a few of the pages of the next section we are working on. We're still working through the Young Indy Chronicles, but slowly making progress.

Mike will update more soon, once he can get back online.

Until next time.
