Thank you. Actually I am aware of that, it is part of the hinge that will allow the flaps to open and close. I am only just finishing the basic shaping of that part and was just holding it up to see what it looked like lol! I appreciate the pic though. That part will be molded when I have finished fitting it and decided how I will actually hinge it... part of me wants to use the actual point there or easy way just internal hinges...we shall see. Thank you for the praise, but I am building on the backs of Giants like Surreal and Stealth...I appreciate the compliments though! :)

That's why he's the master of disguises.....

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

It's been awhile since I posted a picture of an actual armor part lol! Been hyper-busy, but back into it now.
Here is the bottom of the boot wip...still have some pinholes and imperfections to address, but getting there.:love

I opted to make the thruster a lot more Beefy as I asked myself if adding all that weight and weapons to an armored suit would effect the Delta V and if it would need more thrust to move all that mass around, so I answered my self yes! :devil
It will get an LED, a clear plastic cover....thinking CO2 jet? maybe...:cool

The really awesome thing is the boot is symmetrical so I only have to make the one to mold... met with my Smooth-On Rep :ninja and he convinced me to use Task-16 or flexible plastic that is very dense.. Disney and Universal use this for character feet and hands/faces.. Should work good!:angel

Still a long way to go, I am letting the primer cure so I can do a good wet sand and fill imperfections with red putty. Currently working on the boot upper and pleased my shoe fits inside and the boot tip, working on the Left upper arm, more to come!

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Awwww even your bottom boot looks awesome..doing a great job on it....

I sometimes want to give up on mine and make it a statue..lol...

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

I've been following your build as well as prop noobs, don Juan's , and made007s. It's great how you all have been putting your own touches on the suits, like the beefed up thruster on the boots, which look pretty damn great!. I've been working on my own as well and have and have just a few more parts to glass, but after seeing what y'all have done with your builds, I'm going to go back and start adding more details to all the parts. In the past few days I have been 3d modeling all the gears and the feeder port for the ammo feeder for the back of the torso and then will be printing it out on my 3d printer. I'm also thinking about doing the same thing with the links of the ammo belt and then printing a blank I can mold and mass produce and then link all together to make the belt. I just can't figure out how to mold more than one at a time so I won't have to do each one separately. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.

Thanks! I really love really crisp lines and angles lol! I am Surreals' biggest fan lol. :ninja Man those lines are sharp!! My suggestion; Make one perfect plug, mold it, then make 3 or 4 more so you can mold five or so at once...The molds wont take up a ton of silicon comparatively, so that's what ima gonna do lol! There are almost no shortcuts..sorry..:devil:thumbsdown
That said there will be folks lined up to buy really nice ammo belts so you can offset the costs!

These are finally coming together, but you can see I still have a long way to go especially on the boot top and toe assembly,:cry those edges and angles are a nightmare...like I said, all I need is one perfect boot to cast then Im golden... maybe this weekend will see the end of it. I am considering selling these when I'm done and figure out how to mold them. They will be in Task 16 by smooth on which is what Disney and Universal use for character parts.. I have to make a very special 3 part mold with a plug as the material doesn't glue and cant be cast in parts then assembled...:sick

For you all that follow, you will see BigTurks boot bolt from his masterfully done bolt set. That will be the pivot for the boot to articulate on! I was having a bear of a time scaling my boot till I used his bolt to scale the whole boot! Thanks mighty Al! You are the best! Hes selling a couple of sets so grab them if you want art level bolt bling for your armor!!!

My buddy Propnoob sent me the parts he pepped for me and I couldn't resist a shot of it on the almost finished boot!!! thanks David my brother by another mother!!$

I love the look of the shins he sent, they are very technical and have an almost Samurai look to them!!:ninja:thumbsup

Ok this is my take on a zabana :ninja boot pep, unfolded, moded by Darkside501st :ninja, then twerked by me to be War Machine ready!:cool:devil

I still need to glue the top part of the boot to the sole, that will probably mean resanding it but we are almost there!!:love

Z-bottom of the heel, toe to follow

Looking amazing man! I can't get over how much effort you're putting into this. I sincerely hope you can turn this into some form of lucrative business opportunity with the molds and castings you're spending so much time doing perfectly. Just awesome work!!!

Thank you! As I've said my inspiration is Matt aka Surreal. His MK 3 is perhaps the premier hand made armor. I have very good cosplay friends tell me, " don't worry, don't be so fussy, remember the 10 ft rule!" Meaning most people will never be close enough to see the flaws and most pictures will be taken from 10 feet away or more. Truth be told, I'd love to sell a few copies someday to offset the cost of this and aid in development costs for my other ideas. The main reason I'm taking my time is that, I will know. The faults glare to my type A personality I guess, plus if I plan to sell even one suit, I have to believe it is worth the price I'd need to sell it for. And I promise it will be a thing of beauty!:devil

Had to post a couple of pics with the bicep thrown on for a look see and progress check. Rather wish I had put it on with the neck and helmet, but for now here they are!

I may put the armor on for an updated progress pic, but have to wait for things to dry...

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

The shin looks awesome. The boot though, you know i've wondered a molded plastic sole. How durable can that pissibly be or is rubber going over top? GM

I have to tell you that considerable thought and research has been done. My friend Scott who works for my local a Smooth-on product distributor here in Orlando really was the deciding factor. He is a master level caster and teaches classes to Disney, universal studios and MGM. These classes/orientations are to show the people who work for these companies how to use and get the most out of Smooth-Ons extensive product line. I love Smooth-On products and love the consistency with which I get great results! (hint for paid endorsement lol).:$

When, after researching, I came to Reynolds Advanced Materials and talked to Scott, he told me they were basically all good options. Even laying them up with fiberglass would work. But I told him that I'd seen so many videos and gone to cons where the armored costumer clip clopped like a horse when they walked. I actually talked to a shoe maker about having rubber soles glued on to the boots lol. I think you can tell that I'm going all in on this.:$

He convinced me, and I reiterate, convinced me that the Task 16 was the way to go. Light, durable, flexible, accepts pigments and paints, it is what theme parks use to make character hands, feet and faces.

All I have to offer beyond that, is watch how it turns out here on my thread, I will always post my successes and failures. I want others to succeed and learn from me. Trust me, I've already made some costly mistakes, found some cheaper options and even some new ways of getting results. It is all here.:devil

I have to get to work lol, I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the great question!!

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Can you explain the boots to me? So when I did my pepping instead of making the two pieces that seemed sealed off and individual I just used foam and made them as one connected piece with no bottom. The result was basically a slip-on over so I wore regular black hiking boots and then had my foam cover around them. The bottom of the front part hooked over the toe and I padded them so they stayed in place. This seemed to work pretty well for me but I wanted to know the actual way to do it with the bottoms and the two pieces.

I recently wore my suit (my first project ever I may add) and I did have some issues. Among them included my mini gun mount failing which I know to simply reinforce better but things I was more hazy on fixing included:

-the best way to make abs and Cod attachment (my abs were attached in the back to the spine and then held together in front with the center ab piece then covering)

-the gloves which I cut on the sides (so I could actually put my hand in them) and then magnetized, but the joints between the fingers broke

-Leg length as I realized that I couldn't sit or really bend. When the time came to sit on a floor it was more falling than sitting

Thanks in advance for reply just wanted to know your thoughts on any of these since your build is amazing
