Hi, my name is Dan and I mostly teach kids to hit each other, but love doing custom work as a hobby. It started with cars, and is shifting to costuming.

Heya folks

I'm Kevin. I've always been fascinated by the various scifi and military props that populate television and movies, but then I'm fascinated by shiny things in general.

About me: I own OneStopKnifeShop.com and BladeForums.com If you are at all into knives, you probably have been to BladeForums.com at some point, so yes, I'm Spark. Otherwise I'm nobody special. ;)

Hi my name's Ste.
Veteran tabletop wargamer, of over 25 years. I've recently got into cosplay, so expect a lot of questions about how to do different things, lol.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Just a quick hello to everyone and I have to say "damn you people are talented!". Hope that's not considered obscene but you are all so innovative

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, my name is Chris. I am a huge fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, especially Star Wars. I have put together a Sandtrooper costume and am currently working on an X-Wing pilot helmet. I have been browsing this site for awhile looking for ideas for my next project. I am absolutely blown away by the amount of talent in this community!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone. I just recently started getting into replica costumes because of my passion for Halo and I wanted to build MJOLNIR armor. But I also really want to re-create some super hero suits. I started a my MJOLNIR armor but have increasing interest in Captain America, Spiderman, and Iron Man suits. Problem is you all seem like such veterans where I don't even know where to start when it comes to materials and what not and browsing some of the threads don't help much since most people are all focused on certain parts of their suit and not where they start. A top to bottom step by step sticky or even a separate forum for the best example projects would be great and if there is one, I still have yet to find it. I hope to continue to expand my knowledge of this hobby and eventually finish an amazing looking project.

Hey, everyone!

I am a joining to expand my costuming experience beyond that of just Star Wars. I have been a member of the 501st since 2010. Looking to get into Alien and Aliens costumes, starting with making a 'Parker' impression.

Cheers!

Taras here. New to prop buiding, with interests in vacuum forming and mold making! Just made my first creation with my newly scratch built vacuum forming table, and an original mold out of bondo, which I posted in the replica forum. Looking forward to feedback and learning from many of the great artists on this forum!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi guys, my name's Scott. I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I've always loved the Grail Diary from Indiana Jones (not unique in that one, I'm sure) but want to start building some cosplay stuff too.

I have a question: do people do a lot of customising of the costumes here or is there more of a drive to be as screen accurate as possible?

Thanks, and I look forward to checking out all the awesome stuff on the rpf!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

hello guys and gals.. i'm blessed (no seriously my name is blessed.. LOL).. from the Philippines.. i LOVE cosplaying and i was searching for sucker punch costume ideas and a forum here in rpf got me hooked instantly.. it was just recently that i got interested in really pursuing the idea of joining in cosplays because first of all.. it IS expensive and i respect the character so much that i always think i wouldn't be able to give justice to it with just ordinary costumes that are available here.. i'm a control freak and a perfectionist and it ticks me off seeing people portray characters just because they thought it is so kawaii (*cute).. bummer.. >_<
as a kid i had always found fulfillment in creating things and seeing it all come to life.. i'm looking forward to learning a lot more things from the experts here.. ^_^

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all, I was introduced to this site from watching a video on Tested.com where they discuss Adam Savage's work shop. I have always liked building things. So I think that it is time for my first prop replica. My first build will be a Farnsworth from W13. I was really excited to that there is a face plate buy in the junkyard (already trying to get on:). I already have 4 or 5 more projects in my head and this site looks like a great resource.

Hi people, fellow armor, costume & prop builder from Italy!

I have been a lurker for quite some time, and I finally have decided to register on this site. I think I will introduce myself through a couple of my already finished works in other threads as soon as possible!

I look forward to learn some more of your secrets and share many other projects with the great people and craftsmen that populate this forum! Yay!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone,

Mainly signed up to see the crazy levels of talent you guys have. It always amazes me that with a little ingenuity and a bit of help, you can accomplish nearly anything.

Keep up the great work, and if you bump into of my questions that shows my noob status, go easy on me. ;)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all,

Even though I am new to the RPF I have been making replica props since high school some 24 years ago. I was a regular in my schools shop class and always loved doing models. Recently I got my hands on a little 7x10 Harbor Freight lathe and it sparked my interest in props all over again. Hoping I can get myself the little matching milling machine.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all!

My name is Meagan Marie, and as you might expect, I'm new to the RPF. I've been meaning to join up for ages, and am excited to finally take the plunge.

A little about me. Been a fan of video games my entire life, which eventually lead me to secure a job at Game Informer Magazine after graduating college. Gaming (and more specifically, Lara Croft) got me into comics, which eventually lead to cosplay. I've been cosplaying since 2005, although my early costumes are pretty embarrassing. Funny enough, after writing a cover story about the new Tomb Raider for GI back in 2010, I was offered a position as Community & Communications Manager for Crystal Dynamics, and now work on the franchise. It's sort a dream come true.

The job keeps me incredibly busy, and I'm traveling for work at least twice a month at the moment. As such, I've been hesitant to join the boards - not wanting to start posting and be unable to commit to some meaningful interactions due to time.

I figure if I have time to make costumes, I have time to make them right, however. I often work on my costumes alone and through much trial and error, which has lead to unnecessary expenses and frustrations. So, I'm hear to learn, and to share when I can!

In regards to my personal style, I love armor and prop fabrication. I hate to sew, but I can do it when necessary. You can see my full gallery of costumes here: Cosplay | Meagan's Blog

Each costume writeup states if it was made in full by myself, a collaborate project, or a commission.

I try to learn a new skill with each project I take on, and right now I'm fixated on leather working! I've got a really cool project that I'll most likely detail here on the boards as soon as I kick it off! :)

Anyway, that's it for now!
