I also mounted the bio to the mask with rare earth magnets, Works awesome! The Bio snaps on and off, the magnets are strong enough that it takes a little bit of force to get it off.
Looking great! Thanks for posting your WIP pics of the plasma cannon. I was sort of at a loss on how to do mine when I came across your pics. Worked beautifully for my current build!
All I did was cut about 1/2" slit into the mask, then stuck the dreadlocks through the mask itself. They hang right because of the weight of the beads.
I got an undercoat of paint on in between the 2nd and third coat of latex, Burnt umber to highlight the muscles, then took some glow in the dark neon green paint for some bulging veins, I don't know if they'll glow under the final 2 coats of latex but at least the blood color is accurate! HAHA! The final 2 layers of latex are going to be tinted to a "khaki" type color.
Got my suit painted! Turned out pretty awesome, waiting on my perma wet to get here then I can seal it and make it glossy! Im getting so close to being done!
Here is the last bit of armor, the chest armor, all out of foamie, except for the leather belt used for the strap. I also made a "trophy" from a walmart skull from the "bag of bones". I cut the lower jaw off with my dremel, and gliued the spine piece to the base of the skull. I took my hot glue gun and just lathered on the hot glue, stretching it across the gaps and holes in the skull making the little "stringies" and then took some medium crochet thread and frayed it and unraveled it and draped a few over the top from the scalp. Then used 2 shades of enamel red gloss paint and sprayed the whole thing. Looks pretty goeoey! Not bad for only about $12. As opposed to what it costs for the "spiny" trophy for about $90.
Suit is really shaping up nicely! Well done on the trophy, I may have to steal your idea with the crochet thread..I tried to use cheap halloween spider webs to achieve a similar effect and it didn't work out too well...
A few quick pictures before off to the corn maze on Saturday, didn't mount the cannon or backpack, and other props weren't quite done, more pictures to follow!
Here I am at the local Casino for the Halloween Costume Contest on the 31st of October-I came in 2nd-apparently it was a popularity contest not based on merit. I lost because the other guy had more friends there. I was told by just about everybody though that my costume was way better and had probably 50 people that wanted pictures taken with me over the course of the evening. All in all it turned out very well-Same with the corn maze-people weren't terrified-they were amazed and stopped for the photo opportunities. Of course I obliged! The canon failed after my dog knocked it off of it's mount before I could even use it and broke it. I'm going to eventually make another-but I'm done for the year. My wife should be happy! No More messes for awhile!
