Thanks for all the positive feed back all the hard work was made worth it today when I started showing friends and family and every one was smiling and generally made happy by it I think that's what it's all about.

man that looks great. I just started my helmet the other day and I'm still on the pep stage.

Quick question for you. When you got to the bondo stage how did you make those bolt/screw marks in the helmet? they look so clean and uniform.

It was quite simple I used two bits of equipment a £1 geometry set with various sizes of circles and a £3 engineers scribe. Just place the circle where u want it hold it tight in place (I used tape to hold it or have someone hold it) then use the scribe to scratch it in to the bondo. I then scratched a straight line in the centre. And that's all there is to it.

Hey Dan, again great work.

I'm close to the fibre glass / bondo stage for the whole suit.
I remember you recommending the David's Fastglass Glass Fibre Kit and the David's ISOPON P38 Easy Sand 250ml both from Halfords.

Was these 2 kits just enough for the helmet? or will i need to buy a few of each to cover the whole suit?

The fibreglass kit was more than enough for the helmet with stuff left over but the p38 need 3 kits to complete but it will depend how good u are with it when it comes to sculpting and smoothing

dude! Your work is amazing! I'm currently at the filler stage of my whole suit and any help/tips you could give me on using the filler would be massively appreciated. I'm based in the UK too and i'm using car body filler to smooth everything out but i'm finding it all really tricky to get results as good as yours. I have some knifing putty to fill in the smaller imperfections but I feel at the moment I keep applying filler/sanding/applying loads more filler yadda yadda, it's tricky to know when to stop and start applying primer etc.

Here's the thread for my build: http://www.therpf.com/f24/another-iron-man-mk6-full-suit-work-160051/

Just been checking out your build thread and all I can say is wow the only tips I can give is be don't put too much filler on at any one time build it up gradually the mistake I made was adding to much and then having to take it off and I bought some liquid green stuff from games work shop is a filler for small imperfections during the priming I used it to fill tiny holes then sanded back when dry then more primer made an extremely smooth surface to paint on How long did it take u to pep the whole suit?

I call shenanigans on this being your first pepping experience. Haha! ;) It looks great!!

As a first-timer, what method did you discover for doing those little details, like the thin lines around the head, the lines on the chin, and those screws? It has to be a separate tool, no?

I used a geometry set u know the plastic ruler semi circle and triangle for drawing the lines on in pencil. I also got a cereal box cut the back off then I drew the curved line that is on the side of the helmet then I cut it out and drew it on then flipped it over for the other side. This gives u a symmetrical line on either side. Then i used an engineers scribe to scratch the detail in and a needle file to widen and deepen them. After all of that hey presto your lines are done. The screws were just holding the circle cut outs of the geometry set in position and use the engineers scribe to scratch them in once its all painted it looks perfect

So would you say you carved into it, or scratched the lines out? (For lack of a better word)

Very nice though. I wouldn't have thought of doing it like that. Thanks!

I had totally body fillered the whole thing so all I was doing was carving in to that I wouldn't suggest this method if yours is only paper and fibre glass u need the body filler to act as a sculpting medium somthing to cut in to. The best thing is if u make a mistake u can just fill the line up and re do it in 20-30 minutes.

Great job for a first timer, dude. Are you going to finish the inside and make it wearable?

No iv actually decide that I'm not happy with the quality of pepakura bondo fibre glass method it just feels to bodged together to wear. So I'm going to build another iron man helmet but this time I'm going to make a mild and cast another in plastic hopefully that will be enough quality for me lol some one has told me I won't be happy till its metal!

Hey, great work! I know this was a long long time ago but I too am starting my first ever pep and was just wondering how you did the EL lights for the eyes?
