MaQuarrie Concept Luke VS Vader

I custom made this 3 3/4" figure about 3 years ago. I still have it along with other Ralph McQuarrie Concept figures I did...I always liked this picture.

That's awesome. Would look great with the poster behind it for context.

Speaking of which, is this poster even made anymore, or ever? I can't find squat on Google poster-wise.

Wow...

The statue (vignette?) to me really captures the look of the pre pro art, so I'm good with it...

It also reminded me of when I used to think, "OK, Luke and Vader are in a controlled atmosphere/environment, so why's the kid got SCBA crap on?"

This is amazing, and though some may bash prepro stuff I'd take prepro star wars merchandise over prequel stuff any day.

Without these original concepts we wouldn't even have star wars. Plus that vader will always be the best vader of all. He actually looks evil

It was at one time. I had one- regular big poster size with a black border around it. But I just looked around online as well and came up with nothing.

Regarding the question of why Deak (Luke)is wearing a scuba tank I think RMQ's rationel was that the hull had a breach in it for boarding so there was no atmosphere. Originally GL just had Vader with a samurai helmet and veil. RMQ was the one gave Vader the mask and life support and thus in the painting Deak.

When I get the kit I'm going to display it with my Original SW portfolio print of that scene signed by RMQ.

A lot of times, I like the concept art better than what ends up in the movie. I worship the art of SW books. This statue is flat out awesome.

Thanks. Here you go:

The two "knobs" at each end of the grip are 1-1/2" in diameter, FYI. The candleholder mentioned isn't available any more, I think. The Bell grip has had about a 3/4" section cut off one end. I think of the grip as being a pressure switch, so no activation switch is visible. The knurled knob on the bottom of the pommel is my own interpretation, mostly because I needed something to hold the cup on, but it looked good anyway. Almost went with a lanyard loop meant to attach to the tripod socket of a camera, that way it would have been like the Graflex's D-ring. Still might try it and see how it looks one of these days.
