Mandalorian Reference Thread

Quick question for anyone who sees this. How much is it usually for BobaMaker's Mando helmet? I'm looking to get one at some point and use Alumaluster. Or do you think I could use Alumaluster with a 3D printed helmet?

If the finish on the 3D print is smooth, which it definitely can be with some work, and its got a gloss black base, alumaluster would work fine. Honestly though from what I've seen, the bobamaker helmet isn't very accurate for its price. I know Wasted Fett just started making some casts and there are many more makers with better prices.

We've finally identified the air pistols used by Burg (also in the Razor Crest weapons locker).
They were previously incorrectly identified by another website.

New announcement up on The Parts of Star Wars Facebook page!

Anyone see the new cardboard standees for Mando Season 2? Looks like Cara Dune is sporting a new logo...not quite like any existing "New Republic" logo..the neck is rather thin, like the old galactic republic logo...and the head of the crest seems slightly different that the standard Rebel logo....

Is it just me or was the actor from the first cantina scene the dude getting fitted for the Heavy Mando suit?

It's the same guy. I read that quite a few months back.

Imagine that guy with Favreau's voice coming out of him.

Sideshow has pre-orders for the Mythosaur pendant by EFX.

$99

In my opinion, it doesn't look near as accurate.

I don't know why anyone would get one other than the Mostly Fantasy pendant. Maybe the Rock Love one just because it's made of silver.

The EFX pre-order page says it's made "from the same master as the screen used prop." Wouldn't that mean they just recast the Mostly Fantasy original?

Yikes. Back when this appeared on the show, someone posted a link to the guy who made the one used on the show. I forgot the exact cost but it was something like $20-$30. I have one.

Yep! That's the one I was referring to being more accurate. I have the same one and I love it. I think it ran me about $40 shipped because he had to increase his shipping charge to get tracking.

Sorry to barge in the conversation, but I have a few questions regarding paints. I currently finished printing my Mandalorian Helmet and I am looking at the various paints used. Obviously, I will have to sand it down finely, using various techniques like Bondo, Filler primer, wet sanding, and such, but I am curious what you guys have to say for the paint layers. I heard a couple of layers of clear gloss black, the 2k clear, then alclad chrome 107 layers then alclad gloss clear coat to make sure it doesn't dull.

Any thoughts?

From what I know about alclad, even their own clears like aqua gloss and such, dull the finish. Gordon Tarpley has had good results with first spraying aqua gloss over chrome, then a 2K auto clear over that. He posted a video about it on youtube.

What on your thoughts about Molotow then? I've heard from various people that alclads klear gloss doesn't dull it very much at all

I would think the Molotow would be much too chrome for Mando. The alclad seems to be the go-to for the Alumaluster make-do (accidental rhyme).
