Let's Talk All Things Star Wars (Again)

The Empire Strikes Back.
"...from a probe droid in the Hoth "system."
"...an energy field surrounding an area of the sixth planet of the Hoth "system."
Wouldn't all this imply that it is actually the star of that solar system that is named Hoth, not the planet itself.
If that is the case then the Family Guy joke may indeed be correct: "Hoth? Shouldn't it be called Coldth?

Not sure if this one has been posted. It's a little long, but skip to the 13 minute mark and check it out if you have some free time:
OK, this opens up a huge hole for me. I have not yet watched Andor. Yes, I know..... but the .... anyway, haven't yet seen it and I already know I will love it. This video, at least from 13 on (I jumped straight to it) is truly a masterwork for commentary on this whole social disconnect of Disney. The idea of show don't tell is the refined essence of what has gone wrong with Hollywood/Disney in its pursuit of forcing a narrative and avoiding the acting skill. If the acting is subpar, the dialogue will not save you. If the actions and the acting are in direct contradiction of the dialogue, you are Disney's current writers, with Andor being an obvious exception. My opinion will never reach anyone of importance but as a business person, I would put the writers and directors, set designers and prop folks, of Andor, in line for some awards and continued employment on future projects. This is Star Wars.

I saw this display at a toy store in Eugene Oregon last weekend. It looked like a formed display until I got closer and realized it was someone's full cosplay build turned into a display. These are all separate, wearable parts:

Anyone know who originally made this?

An x-wing is listed as 38 feet 7 inches wide. Suppose he is chasing another ship and has him right on target. What if that ship is not as wide as 38 feet? Laser beams just shoot right on by?

Like fighter craft of WW2. There would be a convergence point for the cannons. Adjustable on the fly, as I recall. Also laser cannons have a limited firing arc. This most apparent with the TIE fighters, where you can see the laser bolts don't always fire straight ahead.

Not canon now, but in the X-Wing series (Rogue and Wraith) they discuss how they had their lasers set to converge. Like WW2, some liked farther and some liked get in closer.

I had known about the watch in Glory because my dad was a Civil War collector. The first time we watched it my dad saw it immediately. There's another CW movie, maybe Gettysburg, where you can see a tan line from a wrist watch.

Okay, I have a new insider update:

STARFIGHTER movie:

The Ryan Gosling Starfighter movie is not yet greenlit. The hold-up is funds. Lucasfilm is not flush with cash at the moment, and has sunk most everything into The Mandalorian and Grogu. Hence the Celebration 2025 news about smaller cheaper productions that are animated. But Favreau is still trying to make it happen, because he's got respect for the potential of the film.

This explains why some other actors who were approached (like Mikey Madison) passed on it. It doesn't have a budget or filming schedule...yet. Tells me that Gosling really wants this.

Yes, this movie is resurrected from the Rogue Squadron idea that was originally being planned with Patty Jenkins before she ran afoul of Kennedy. I understand that Favreau loved the idea and thinks Levy could pull it off. Jenkins is busy.

DARTH MAUL show:

This is apparently Favreau's idea, and comes from his desire to explore more of the "underworld" aspects of Star Wars. I say anything that gives us more Sam Witwer is a good thing.

THRAWN movie:

The Celebration 2025 announcement of Admiral Ackbar coming back for Ahsoka Season 2 is a setup for a planned Thrawn movie, where the two admirals will face off in a battle of wits.

CAL KESTIS:

There was previously some internal traction to get this game character into the live action universe, but due to production issues with the third "Jedi" game, this is likely to be delayed. Apparently Favreau had hoped to introduce Cal Kestis in Ahsoka Season 2, but the need to tie him in with the next game release has upset those plans.

Kestis is a favorite of my son. I would love to see this become a reality on the big screen.
