Hard to believe... 20 years since Jim Henson's passing

Thanks for reminding. He was one of the best out there.
Sad that he died so early.
I´m one of his biggest fans. Thank you Jim. For all!

just bought a few seasons of the muppet show last night actually....

maybe ill watch labyrinth tonight....

I think about Jim Henson all the time, "The Muppets" and "Labyrinth" and "The Dark Crystal" are some of the reasons I got into Sculpting and Special Make-up Effects!

Brian Henson (Jim's son for those that don't already know), is continuing his Legacy by doing "The Power of The Dark Crystal" and from what I've heard after many delays, they now have the backing they need to complete the sequel!

While I've been losing too many people lately and am struggling with a soon to be inevitable loss of my special dog..this has been in my head:

"Life is made up of meetings and partings. That is the way of it."

Kermit from A Muppet Christmas Carol. Of course this was after Jim Henson had passed away, but it is a powerful line.

Some lives shines oh so very bright and oh so very brief, but reverberates across time with joy, hope and inspiration. He and the people he worked with brought something special to this world and his legacy lives on.

May others be inspired by him to continue making things more fantastical. :thumbsup

This thread brought tears to my eyes.

20 years? Wow. I remember thinking that it as big a shock as the space shuttle blowing up. It was such a tragedy. I forget, was it pneumonia?

Yeah, something like that. Came on while he was at the airport.

I still remember it as a real slap-in-the-face WTF??! moment. Very few celebrity deaths distressed me as much as Jim's did.

Damn you, universe! Give him back! :cry

"...because I think Jim Henson said best when he said 'Can somebody get me an aspirin, I think I have a cold'. "---Denis Leary

And if this has brought you tears, then the speeches at his memorial service/funeral will have you bawling... Frank Oz's speech had me on the verge of a breakdown... so many emotions of such magnitude...

Frank Oz's speach, Big Bird's "thank-you"... those are the ones that still get me no matter how many times I see it (the comic posted earlier is now added to that list). I loved how Oz's fellow puppeteers conspired to suddenly lift him up in the middle of a song. It looked to me like he was on the verge of tears again, but instead they made him laugh. I think Jim would have liked that.
