Gold Leader Hero auction

Dave Mandel checks out Gold Leader

This gentlemen seemed very nice, but good god he made me nervous waving his hands around near the model. He picked it up in a very, not as careful as I would have, way.

It says the starting bid is 300k, 375k with fees, etc. Crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Considering he bought both the X-wing and the Stormtrooper armor, from the Greg Jein auction, he can buy whatever he might break. ;)

That'll do it.

I love how enthusiastic he is. I just wish he was more careful.

I can't criticize anyone who would spend so much, even though we can all agree there are better uses for that kind of extra cash.

If I won a big lottery the owners of the USS Excelsior (now Lakota), The little Excelsior up now, and the big 10 ft Enterprise E would be paid whatever it took to buy them.

Since Bezoz owns the Enterprise A obviously I would have to have a new one built.

Actually I am not as big into "Screen Used" so I would likely commission modelers to just build all those for me. Plus some others

Excelsior big and small

Enterprise A

Enterprise E

Enterprise F (15' at least)

5 ft Falcon

Theater designed like Star Trek VI Enterprise A

1/6 Falcon (Hello Geek)

Big Huge Disney Nautilus

Big Huge Typhoon

Big huge Red October. (Screen version very different from real Typhoon. Love them both.)

8' Star Destroyer

Life Size Jabba with Throne and Max Reebo. (Talked to Spina once and he said he would love a second shot at 1/1 Jabba.)

Real Bell 222 built up like Airwolf.

I would love a Cutter's Goose Grumman G-21, but every time I thinks of him, I get angry. Can't watch TOTGM or STTMP anymore.

Okay, I am back. I need to go figure out how to pay this months bills.

It was primarily made by Jim Mallasch, Paul Huston, and Dave Beasley.

Dave Jones worked on components, he was also the fella to attach it to the model pylon on set. Mallasch, who was only at ILM in 1975, made the pattern, and assembled the armatures/heroes. He also drilled the underside of Gold Leader's head (for the front mount). Huston worked on the canopy and took over on pattern work when Mallasch was let go.

Beasley with Gold Leader - see those brass T-Struts!
