Yeah? Let me know how those scrapes on your forhead and cheeks heal after you get the fibers out of them. :lol

:lol
Yeah fibreglass can be bad on the skin.I think Matt painted the inside.
I don`t plan on wearing mine though.It will be for display.Maybe I`ll
wear it around the house to try it out though, just once :p

cheers,
Ben

I'm wearing mine :) I'm also padding the daylights out of it, and looking into some kind of cloth covering for the foam so I don't sweat the paint off. Anyone ever used cotton liners over foam?
And I too have similar bolts in my other TE helm, they look long but have yet to be any kind of problem.

So far the paint jobs I have seen on the new fibreglass TE all mimick the helmet of now (chips and HDPE showing) rather than the helmet of 1976 (which would have been rough but in a bit better condition). Nothing wrong with making it look like that in fact I love that look as well.

For the people who are getting these is everyone going for the paint chipped HDPE up close and and real life look or is anyone going to go for an on screen gleaming straight off the conveyor belt look?

I am tempted to go for the clean and on screen look myself when I get mine (mainly because I already have a mock up of an HDPE helmet) and also because the 'set for stun' is one of the coolest on screen troopers.

Anybody got any plans for their new TE apart from the HDPE beat up look?

Cheers Chris.

Matts doing mine chipped too.I just love the chipped look. :)
Although it would be cool to have both. :p

Cheers,
Ben

When I get one I'd like to go for the on-screen look, as opposed to the 20 years of abuse look. I absolutely loved how the real helmet looked when I laid eyes on it, so I can understand why someone would go for that look. I just prefer what I saw on screen, opposed to something that looks like its been stored and damaged a bit after filming. remember Don Bies showing several ILM models from the films were in beat up shape after years of being stored, and they were restored for exhibit purposes. It would pain me to see an ATAT missing a leg or something, so getting them back to "filming condition" would be my goal if I had such a prop.

If it were me, I would go gleaming white. The helmet is stylized and cleaned up looking enough that the chipped paint and what have you just seems...well, wrong. The only people who would be impressed by the authentic paint job are prop-o-philes and they would be the ones asking why the helmet is one piece.

Personally I don`t think it`s realistic to have an ANH stunt helmet without chips.
Remember the pile of helmets outside AA`s studio.I think you would be hard pressed
find one of those without just as few chips and they weren`t even finished yet.

When I screen identified the "Set for stun helmet" I did so by lining up the
different chips and such.Alot of the chips WERE there on-screen.

Also I just scored myself another TE bump cap/back kit from his first run in 2002
and I plan on painting it perfect like they were on-screen but I will put a
couple of chips on it just so you can see it`s HDPE because I`m sure all of
them on-screen had a chip or two.It just feels more accurate to me. :)

Ben

I give you the points about realism. In a total prop-sense, it's got to be scratched and chipped to be a replica at all. But I'm a victim of being a movie and book slave; they looked perfect in the movies(before screencaps ;) ) and in the books and comics stormtroopers are often polished and buffed to shine in the presence of their superiors-which is everyone :)
My FG willl be highly glossed and without a scratch. If it incurs some in trooping, well I won't fight, but I won't encourage it either. I have a sandtrooper costume with a helmet yellowing from the clearcoat, so that's covered. This helmet will go with my as of yet unassembled ANH-restored TE, and the whole shebang is gonna glow, even my gun will shine :love Death Star trooper all the way.

Sounds sweet Jax :) I agree with you about that shiny look.Up until about
4-5 years ago I thought that the ANH troopers were perfect and shiny.
Then I found this place and other sites like it and my childhood memories
were forever shattered. :p

Please post some pics when it`s done.I can never get enough of TE suits
especially if they will have the SFS helmet. :love

Ben

These look great can anyone PM me details of where to get hold of one..??.?? :)

PM sent :D

Thanks guys, I wasnt trying to sound thick I just wasnt sure if TE was still TE if that makes sense :confused

Got a chance to tyr one on the other day, just not mine yet :p The pics are missing the details more than I thought, the lines on the helmet are so deep it looks like there's separate parts. It's solid and a little heavy, which is kind of cool considering how light the real "helmets" ;) were. People have mentioned not trooping in it, the hell I won't...... I may retire my wearing helmet and use this one. Just a matter of time... :)

Well mine has nearly been finished now.It will be finished this weekend and then shipped to me on Monday.I think it looks superb and I can`t wait to add it to my collection. :D

Heres how it looks at the moment. :love
When it arrives I will make a new post with heaps of pics.
