I still don't know if I'd say the mocha bisque are in the opening, but the color has really grown on me. At first they look kind of like the hideous pumpkin orange Indy Alden's from the 90s, but the color variation makes them look really nice. They're also probably the most comfortable boots I own outside of the Alden's, and the most supportive on the ankle. IMO they were worth the money completely.
As to lightening the leather, you can do it with Nulife spray, but I've never used the stuff. It's my understanding that it's sort of a dye/paint blend. It will crack if you spray it on thick enough, but a thin coat would slightly tint them. I wouldn't bother.
