Interest DaveP's 40th Anniversary Luke Hero (Interest Thread)

**UPDATE**

Hi everyone. Thank you so much for your patience for this run! There will be an important update coming VERY soon!

Apologies for the radio silence from me on this thread.

Your interest is massively appreciated! I am still very much focussed on completing my ongoing Obi run which has been a mammoth undertaking to say the least. In spite of a variety of setbacks and delays, things are now very much coming together and the first large batch of weathered commissions will be completed soon.

Please rest assured though, that preparations are well underway for the updated Hero/Yuma/ISYHCANL.

A fairly large quantity of parts have now been ordered and are IN-PRODUCTION! (Arriving towards the end of September).

As it has been mentioned though, interest in this run has been phenomenal! I'm really very humbled by it and thank you all for your interest and support!

I must stress that the initial quantity ordered will NOT cover the number that would be needed, based on the list as it stands unfortunately.

As I've said previously, I'm looking to move away from taking upfront payments in future and aim to have items in-hand and ready to send out prior to them being made available.

I'll be setting up a product page soon, where you will be able to purchase items on a first come-first served basis.

Both DIY kits and fully finished hilts will be available. As well as separate control boxes, reveal boards, etc.

I WILL be replenishing stock when needed, as well as adding additional products further down the line.

So, if there is a rush on the first batch, it shouldn't be too long before they are back in stock again.

I have a LOT of additional details regarding this particular prop, which I'd like to discuss at length when time allows. Research & Development/Design changes/Discoveries/Manufacturing insights/ETC.... All of this will be added to the initial post in the not-too-distant future...

For now though, I am dedicated to fulfilling existing commissions before turning my attention to this next exciting project.

I just wanted to drop by to let you all know that parts are now "IN-PRODUCTION"! and that Luke Hero/Yuma/ISYHCANL will be available towards the end of September/beginning of October. (y)

I hope this sounds ok to everyone.

Thank you all again for your interest/patience/support!

All the best, and MTFBWY-A

Dave
Will there be a 'box only' upgrade option for your older sabers?

So for clarification:

Posting interest is not needed?

It will be on a website, first come first serve?

If you miss out it will be re-stocked as long as demand, so no worrying about not getting one?

Do I have all that right?

Thanks

Tom

Hey Dave,

So by fully finished hilts, do you mean like already painted, etc? And also sorry if I missed it somewhere in this thread, but there are gonna be static, correct?

Hi Tom.

No, it's not 100% necessary to sign up on here, but I am compiling a list of everyone who has expressed an interest in here and will contact everyone on the list to keep them informed of any major updates and as diy kits/finished hilts become available.

I've used the current list as a guage for how many to order, but due to them being ordered prior to taking any payments, I've had to allow for some potentially dropping out.

I will continue to order more as long as there's demand though.

This thread will always be the first (and possibly only) place I announce availability.

I'll be updating it soon with a lot more detail.

DIY kits will go up for sale first (as soon as all parts have arrived). By that time though, I will have completed my current run of Obi Wan commissions and will begin work on a batch of fully finished hilts. I'll be announcing availability for these as they're finished. I'll be finishing up a variety of Production/on set Hero, Magic of Myth (weathered), Yuma, ISYHCANL and will continue to keep working on them/replenishing stock for as long as the interest is there.

The parts I have in production right now are for static hilts, but I do have a design drawn up for an empty hilt for use with a crystal chamber design I have in the works. These will be coming shortly after...

Hope that all makes sense. :)

Hey Dave,
can you disclose any details on the coming hilts, since the first post was just a 3D. I'm a bit new to the Luke Hero saber and I'm curious to know what the materials will be for instance, all alu? copper neck?
thank you, looking forward to it :)

Hi Dave! New member, would love to purchase one of your hilts! Please put me down for consideration on your next batch!! Many thanks

Hi Matthieu.

The first set of parts is very similar to my last run of Heroes/Yumas apart from some minor tweaks here and there:

Vintage Board 1 (1).jpg

Vintage Board 3.jpg

YUMA.jpg

Solid Aluminium construction as seen on the original prop (the neck is painted).

The main difference with this new one is the reveal board. My previous board was referenced from photos only (before the part was known).

The upcoming board is an exact replica of the original part, using the correct vintage materials.

The one seen here is an actual vintage LC-785 board.

I'll discuss all this in much more detail soon and break down each part and any changes since the last run.

Awesome, thank you Dave :)

Hello Dave! I apologise if this question has been answered already but what kind of price should we be expecting for this hilt? And also will you be accepting down payments for preorders? Cheers!

I haven't finalised the pricing yet I'm afraid. Most of the parts are in production, but there are a few additional bits and pieces that will affect the price, so not quite ready to disclose that at this stage.

I'm trying to keep everything as affordable as possible of course.

There will be quite a variety of options with this one though so it's not completely straight forward:

Budget DIY kit (with modern FR4 reveal board)
Standard DIY kit (with accurate vintage style paper resin reveal board)
Fully finished replica Hero (Production or Magic of Myth)
Fully finished 100% vintage hilt (with LC-785 (B) reveal board / vintage switch / vintage Vector board) X3
Fully finished 100% vintage hilt (with LC-785 (A) reveal board / vintage switch / vintage Vector board) **Reserved**

Stand-alone budget DIY reveal board (with modern FR4 reveal board)
Stand-alone standard DIY reveal board (with accurate vintage paper resin reveal board)

Stand-alone fully finished budget reveal board kit (with modern FR4 reveal board)
Stand-alone fully finished standard reveal board kit (with accurate vintage paper resin reveal board)

There will also be Yumas and ISYHCANL available as both DIY kits and finished hilts.

All control boxes will be available separately too.

I do have a fairly good idea on prices for everything, but just not quite ready to set it all in stone just yet if that's ok....

There won't be any need for pre-orders/down payments this time around though. There should be plenty of parts to go around once they go live. (y)

I'll be restocking too depending on continued demand as I start to get low on things. If I do happen to run out of anything, I'm hoping to keep waiting times as low possible.

Sorry for holding back on this run for the time being. Whist pretty much all of the preparation work has been done, I'm trying to just hold off from giving too much away at this stage whilst I focus on completing existing commissions.

When I do finally update the thread with the finer details of the run, I suspect that it will generate a fair bit of discussion, so I'm just holding back until I'm in a better position to respond to questions, etc.

Hope that's ok.

Thanks again for your interest and patience everyone!

All the best and MTFBWY,

Dave

Waiting is good. My wallet couldn’t handle it for another month maybe even two. But I wanna get at least 1 of each of the 3 versions, original pcbs would be great, but I could deal with replicas too. I just wanna eventually be able to display v1-v4 all together (in addition to my mountain of fx hilts).

everything looks and sounds great so far tho. I’m still bummed I missed the Kenobi run, but if I had to miss that or this, I’d gladly miss out on kenobi as I’m a 90s kid (technically born late 80s but not like I remember them) so of course RotJ was my favorite just cause Luke was too badass. One of these days I also gotta do a proper DV6 graflex conversion to go with em lol.

Just adding my interest for stock purposes :). Great work yet again, Dave.
