I am not going political, but I am pretty sure Disney felt the shift.
Attorneys *want* things to drag out, that's how they get paid. Elon's bankroll means she can demand everything and anything and saying "no" or blocking something can be perceived as worse than releasing or permitting it.
How many years, and still in discovery? Ohhhh yeah, there were some career-ending timebombs.

As someone who was directly involved I can say that in discussions with both Disney and Lucasfilm they stressed that it was not in their interests to fire her because she represents a demographic that they generally don't have much traction with and also she was an incredibly popular character with almost all of the fans. Their decision was not made lightly.

Sad that anyone has to tell them that. Sad that Disney is still allowing the same problems to fester. What is wrong with these idiots?
