Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

they’re strange because they’re not light enough to be worn at night, but not dark enough for a sunny day. it’s an odd % of tint, but I’d say it’s the same they put in the clear version

I have all 3 series 4 shapes now and the cool blue tint is identical in all 3, at least across the clear and tort examples. I think the black has the same lens color, I just don't personally have a black example yet.

I agree it’s the same tint in all three, did you notice that the lenses in the tort tend to turn to purple when worn in direct sunlight while the other two don’t?

There's an effect of "colorizing" because of the frame. I think any frame does this in light lenses but you notice it more with thick frames.

So the clear frame lets more light hit your face behind the glasses and therefore seems like a lighter tint

Tort adds a reddish brown tint of the light passing through and that adds to blue and shifts it a bit purple and the brighter the sun, the more you would see it.

Black frame shades the eyes, making the tint appear a bit darker compared to clear.

I have noticed this interplay the most with clear versus very strongly tinted but still translucent frames. It's a real but subtle design element to consider when customizing eyewear.

Because the TheSoloIst frames tend to have a single lens color across the whole of each series you have the best chance to see how the frame influences your perception of the lens.

Not Stark related but my brother-in-law likes to 3D print stuff so I sent him a pic of the Radarlock from Days of Future Past and he made these. My buddy Jimmy made the stickers on his cricut. It took a little modding but I'm definitely happy with the finished product.

This is my favorite Oliver Peoples... I have the other 2 colors, not the black, though. They set the stage for JMM. I am buying Takahiromiyashita TheSoloIst frames as I can in an attempt to get some examples of all the collaborations. I have a pair of his Converse Hi-tops too.

Those are 47mm I have those as well in that same colorway. RDJs definitely look to be 45mm version. Does anyone know the color RDJ has? The 1552 color is matte. Downey look to be glossy and more reds.

This is a good time to share this... all the series 4 Soloist I saw before had the cool blue lenses, but one time I saw, just in pictures, something new! You can see it has the typical "Left Eye" engraving on the lens! It appears to be a stock light purple lens.

Maybe? It's possible, as far as I know we have no high definition pictures of the tort square Soloist.
But then again, this is literally the only example I've ever seen that may be a stock not-blue lens.

This is the tint I'm looking at. Usually when I send out for custom lenses there's an obvious starting point.

I'm also sending my newly acquired Oliver Peoples Berluti for purple lenses.

The optician will start by creating a close match of purple and we'll go from there.

With the image here of the Soloists the start point is difficult to judge. Does anyone have an off face example over white background that they themselves are happy with in relation to this image of the Soloists?

What tint percentage do you think the light blue lenses are?

My Dita flight are 10% light blue. The black frame image here is certainly no stronger than 10% as my dita do look quite grey in low light.
