Back to the Future

Yes, it's really Melora Hardin on that photo. Claudia Wells was cast only after Eric Stoltz was replaced by Michael J. Fox. Hardin was too tall for Fox, so they had needed another, smaller actress.
That's something even I read in the interviews, that Claudia was cast (or I would say officially signed on) only after Eric Stoltz left. But the photo is a clear evidence showing that's not what happened. Looks like they had early test shoots with Claudia, even though Melora Hardin was in the running for the role. Melora of course appears not to have any photo shoots done during her short while when she was part of the production.

That is definitely not Melora Hardin, just looking at the face especially the eyes, hair it's pretty evident it is Claudia Wells.

I know many keep seeing it as Melora Hardin, but I won't go any further to convince anyone otherwise :).

yea there's a difference between a "homage" and "Screen Accurate" or "SA" as its known around here

I'm creating my own copy of the "Ark Diary" from Raiders the first ones a prototype so is in an A5 notebook instead of the SA sized book this is for my own collection so not so important to get it 100% - 87.935% will do but the next one I do will be 100% or as near as I can get it as the contents are almost all fan made and will replace the original one I do - I do this all the time plus it allows you to add your own personal touch to a prop and you also feel its more your work as well.

bottom line is make the prop the way you want it - stay as close to the "real Deal" as possible obviously but put your own mark on it, if its never going to be sold or exhibited go for it, otherwise you have your work cut out as it can take years to get one prop finished to SA standard - for example I was lucky enough to have one of the original Gremlins from the movie "gizmo" and it took me 6 years to get the box that he was in done. so if its for your own collection and as long as your happy with it make it your own and use what you have.

I hope that makes some sort of sense - :lol
Man, I would love to see that Gremlin box and Gizmo. I just watched that movie again over the holidays.

your not the only one that said that - Wish I still had it sold it about 3 years ago to an Oriental Guy from the US who was a relative of the actor Keye Luke who played the old curiosity shop owner Mr Wing - felt terrible selling it to him but after all if i was going to sell it to anyone I'm glad it went back to the family

You could be right, Vivek. I've just read this on imdb.com:

"When Claudia Wells temporarily dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, Melora Hardin was briefly cast as Jennifer, but had to be replaced when it was discovered she was taller than Michael J. Fox."

It seems, that Claudia Wells was first choice from the very beginning. :eek

Hi guys,

attached is a file with my collection of BTTF graphics I did for a future project. Done with CorelDraw, the hardest part was finding similar fonts.

Enjoy

Dietrich

Hoping you guys might be able to help me with this: so I know there's an Art in Revolution pin up on cafepress, but it's only offered in either a 2 1/2 inch version, or a 1 inch version. I hear the accurate size is 1 1/4. Will that extra 1/4th inch make a big difference, or is there another source for the button?
Or am I completely crazy for putting this much thought into a button?

Thanks guys!

Re: Free paper-prop thread no.3 - 2008

I've had these BTTF props for years, sorry they're the highest quality I have.

Lou_s_Cafe_Letter.gif

Marty's Letter to Doctor (1985A Version)

Save_The_Clock_Tower_Prop.jpg

The Flyer from the start of the First Movie.

Poor quality, but you can rub with a Tea-Bag to make to make it look more authentic.

Example of ripping the first one up and taping it back together.

man!!!!!! these are amazing!!!!!!

Re: Free paper-prop thread no.3 - 2008

There are now some much better versions of all these props that have been posted in this thread and the BTTF III thread in the last year or so. Most of the stuff from 3 or 4 years ago (first few pages of the thread) isn't very accurate. :cool

I can't exactly answer your question. I may have an alternative solution. I've had this Art In Revolution file since January 11, 2010. It could help with making your own pin.

All: This file along with the other 50 + BTTF graphics are part of a larger folder of PDF files. They seemed to all be designed from the originals by an artist and a fan. Unfortunately at this time I can't remember where I downloaded the original zip file from or who created the graphics. If it was a member here, please post. If you don't want the file up, a mod can remove it.

Either way as fans I want to give the proper credit and help if possible.

I think I was the 1st to post it in the Free Paper Props old thread, but yes there was someone who have posted a big .rar file with many pdf in it and AIR button design was inside.

Yeah there's no doubt that is Claudia Wells. How is that even being debated? Look up Melora Hardin in the movie 'Soul Man'. It was released in 1986 so she's about the same age as she would have been in BTTF and it's clear she's not the girl in the picture.

I didn't know when I asked about the original picture, it would start a discussion about the actresses. It was kinda supposed to be a quick fun little thing.

We know IMDB doesn't always have correct information. While I had been 100% certain it was Claudia Wells, like a juror in a court case I began to be swayed. :lol

I wasn't thinking of it at the time, Bob Gale did say in a commentary (if he remembered after 25 years) that Melora Hardin didn't work a "single day" on making the movie. In one of the features (I remember it more from the DVD) Melora talks about how she was cast and how Robert Zemeckis said something to the affect that he owed her. At the time she was still waiting.:D

I never meant to start any issue over the removal of the watermark. The way I feel about how the photo could be used here is that as fans and who are into these props it should be ok. I haven't seen that picture watermarked or without it being sold on eBay or anywhere else.

I can't say with 100% certainty Stephen from bttf.com doesn't own the original picture. With some of his connections it wouldn't surprise me if at one time he was given permission to put it on his site. The original/scanned photo (with the watermark) hasn't been part of his site in years anyway. I did re-upload and shared it on the bttf.com forums. I'm pretty sure too I said I could take it down or it could removed if Stephen wanted to. I haven't heard anything and either way there it's okay by me.

I've just found out, that the prop book they used in "Stargate Continuum", "Daniel Jackson: The Truth About the Pyramids", has the exact dimensions as the "Match Made in Space" book: The Truth About the Pyramids Book : Lot 185

My questions is: Is there anyone here who has that original prop in his collection, and can you tell us, which book they used for that prop?

Why did you post in BTTF ? :rolleyes

He's trying to find out what book is actually under the slip cover, because it's the same size as the "Match Made in Space" book from BTTF, so we can get the book and fit our own Slip Cover.

Peter

Thanks, Peter. Yes, my question is BTTF related. :)

The answer was somewhere here in the RPF, I think Jedifyfe knows which book they used... ?!?

Can't remember exactly, sorry...
