AVP-R 2?

Maybe the lair should contact Fox and send them a script or something.
I've seen some pretty damn good ideas thrown around here on the lair... Would make for a good movie if you ask me.

Oh and by the way... Another idea, if they ever make AVP 3 it should be scary as hell. Edge of your seat the whole way through.
The last two weren't scary. The first was like a 2 year old's movie and AVP-R was just a gorefest. We need some good alien like scares.

I would not be pleased if they went into details about the predator homeworld or the space jockey.

The less we know the better, once you start revealing everything the creatures lose their mystique, it's that mysterious quality to them that illicits half of their appeal.

I just want to see the creatures in a movie with some decent editing and some film makers with a grasp on the psychology of the Predator and Alien/Aliens/Alien3 films.

AVP was a mediocre generic sci fi popcorn movie, with none of the brutality or pacing of it's lineage. it felt like a glorified USA/Scifi channel tv movie.

AVP:R went overboard with the gore, desensitizing and rubbing our faces in it. In P1 Mcteirnen did a good job of balancing explicit gore with fast, brutal editing that disturbs you with more suggestion than in your face intestinal disections.

AVP had contrived, rushed characters, which felt like Anderson just used the memorable characters from the existing franchises as references to throw together and rehash. We need some actual characters, not homages to past characters.

AVP:R was just ridiculous in the character department, and the over the top "homages" to past one liners and events had me cringing, it was like a glorified fan movie, absolutely no sense of subtlety or new direction.

At least they attempted to create an atmosphere condusive to the respective franchises with a soundtrack and sound fx derived from the preestablished canon. But they often overdid it with the whole "remember this" wink wink "homage" crap.

I think AVP 3 should definently be more sci-fi, taking place in clearly extraterrestrial enviroments, with high technology.
I think connections to the past films should be at a minimum, we need a new direction. Hopefully with a director aware of the psychological aspects of these charaters and their behavior. And a decent grasp of sequential storytelling and editing, no fluff/clutter movement for movement's sake editing.

Don't make an AVP3 unless you have a story to tell.

LOL, Kithunter!

If I could rant- and if anyone even cared...

Fox, if you are reading this:

Forget the Strause Bros. for AVP 3. No round two for them!

Forget graphic novels. I wanna see a movie with character development AND a story. Think you guys can handle that? Or have IQ's dropped sharply since I've been away?

(This isn't the Halloween franchise, BTW.)

Remember what you did with Alien 3? Shame on you! Don't do that again!!!

Alien Resurrection was a nice try at a save...but you missed.

Are you aiming these films at the lowest common denominator ? Don't underestimate the AVP fan-base... We (the fans) write better AVP stories than your PAID writers. That scares me a bit.

Get back to the classic film-making that you built your reputaion on!

Go on! Git!

And thanks for listening...

:)

Said it before, I'll say it again, NO to AVP 3, A BIG HELL NO to Predator 3, just let them be. FOX is not going to do any justice to the franchises Alien or Predator because they see at this point that minimal effort equals big returns, founded solely on the fan base.

Big fat NO. I don't want to know where the Predators come from, I don't want to know what their home world looks like, smells like, and I don't want to know how their beaches are. I don't want to know where the space jockeys came from, if they're all dead and if not where they are now.

As soon as they show us all that stuff, I won't care anymore, they've nearly sapped the franchises of any excitement, speculation and mysteriousness. If AVP 3 comes out I most likely won't go to theaters see it. I'll rent the DVD....maybe.

Man o man... I wouldnt know what to do if they put another piece of **** out for us PREDHED'S. I mean, you take a look at the first PREDATOR film, and it was awesome! It had everything a man back then could have in a film, then P2 came out, and had an old ass D. Glover taking on a younger PREDATOR, and winning... WTF??? Then cam AVP... which was one of the biggest let downs for me as a PREDATOR fan. I WAS excited for AVP-R... until I seen it. I like the look of the WOLF, and I like the idea of a hybrid/predalien, but there was no good characters, no really good storyline, and above all... NO GOOD DIRECTION!!!

I do believe, that if fox makes another film, let it be with the fan base inmind, and not dollar signs. A film the PREDATOR/ALIEN fan base would love to see over, and over again. They really need to do some sort of questionaire, or poll for us to see what we WANT in a PRED, or AVP film.

OMG guys, and you think FOX ****** it up ! ! ! god forbid they do 99% of the above. :)
Amen.

Sometimes I read fans' idea's and think "Man, have you been watching the same movies as I did and come to love them the way I do?"
99% of what "fans" would love to see plays out to be rubbish in film, see AVP-R for "fanfic-flic gone wrong".

But I do think the Strausses are just partly to blame for it, as the script was already written, the budget set, the actors selected and the SFX studio chosen when they got the job... Sure, they could've done better, but that's mainly lack of drama...

ok so if you guys had the oportunity to talk to the head guys over at Fox, what would you say? here is a little bit of what my conversation would be like...

...First off, has any one read the AVP or Predator books that are out there???

if you WANTED to do three AVP movies, there are 3 AVP books (coincidence? I think NOT...)

AVP: Prey
AVP: Hunter's Planet
AVP: War

oddley enough there is a HEROINE (if thats what you wanted to do in the first one) in all of these & she is actually someone the masses WANT to hear about...

also...for the love of GOD, if your gonna do a stand alone Predator film there are books out there for THAT as well. here are some books to check out for a standalone Predator Film...

Predator: Forever Midnight
Predator: Flesh and Blood

Im sure the authors of these books would LOVE to get them made into movies, if not, im sure after reading them you can get at least SOME idea of how to write a good Predator story

most of us have been reasonably appeased by the movies that have come out lately but that will only keep us at hold us for so long...bottom line, STOP PULLING THINGS OUT OF YOUR ASS!!! there are plenty of well written story lines, & dont worry about offending us if you do a story we know from reading the books, to keep giving us these sub-par movies

thank you for the entertainment so far & lets see if we cant get on the ball with these two icons of the silver screen...

ya it sounds kinda cliche, but you know what...im tired of these movies where these iconic GIANTS are dumbed down to PG-13 to try & bring in a bigger audience. I personally would like to hear how GOOD the new AVP movie is, instead of what was WRONG with it....

...also I dont think im alone in thinking it would be KICK ASS to see Machiko & Broken Tusk kickin alien kiester side by side in the theaters...raise your hand if you feel the same...

ok Im gonna get off my soapbox now & finish by saying, lets hope that fox can get their **** together and crank out another GOOD AVP, Predator or even Alien movie...

ok is it only me that sees this?

PREDATOR is a monster, hes not meant to ****** fight side by side with a human, he should care about humans about as much as we care about that white stuff you get on your lips the morning after a night on the piss !

Pred is a bad guy, he deserves to kill anything that gets in his way then get his ass slain, PERIOD!!

A story in space or on another planet may be just what the AVP franchise needs. A couple thoughts, some of which have already been touched on;
- Do not, I repeat do not hire the Struase brothers again, they had their lousey turn.
- Fox, take your sweet time on the 3rd installment, as fans we can wait for a good product
- Get a strong human lead for this one. AVPR did not have one, just a group of no-names....and the movie/story really suffered because of this.
- The movie "DOOM" with the Rock had the right feel for an AVP movie. Do something similar, but tons better of course....
- Fox, please dont **** this one up, it may be your last chance to save a great idea.

Usurper your right...the Predator is badass enough not to NEED a sidekick (or even a hunting dog, which is how they see us) & its not that they LIKE us...its that one well known, respected & FEARED Yautja respected one of us enough to give her his mark, & she had a HELL of a rough time while she was with the clan. and Im DEFINANTLY not saying that we should continue this trend of us fighting alongside them but it happened, so lets make sure the story gets told the RIGHT way.

phew

i think weve all pretty much stated the stuff that the next AVP should include.

but sadly unless we could ALL agree on certain things and lock fox in room and make them sign off to all our points , it probably will not happen they way we know it should :)

I have read the AVP novels and I still wasn't a fan of the human/predator team up in the first AVP movie. And AVP:R went too far the other way with Wolf killing humans for the sake of it. Almost killing them by accident (the shuriken pinning the blonde girl to the wall). Considering the humans are supposed to be worthy prey, it was a bit of a let down. Don't get me started on the aliens though, in their own films they are bad ass and scary (even referred to as the ultimate killing machine) but in the AVP:R they were mere cannon fodder.
As much as I would love to see a decent AVP film made, I agree that they should probably just quit now before they bury both franchises forever :)

Geeze!

Why does everyone want these things to follow the books or comics? Just leave the ****** books and comics out of the whole movie scene! Predator was ******* awesome without a book to go by. P2 was great without a book to go by. Then look what happened when they started using the books and comics as a loose base.....AVP & AVP:R. Is this all starting to make sense?

You see the movies that have been made that are the most memorable in the last say 5 years. They all had great writers, great directors, great FX companies, and great actors. You don't have to go out and get these big name actors to make a good movie (think Aragorn from LOTR, wasn't that well known until after these movies but he fit the part perfect). Throw a decent amount of money at it. You look at all the big blockbusters that are making tons of money, they all had a good amount of money for the budget, thus why they were able to get the good directors, good actors, good writers. With a 40 mil budget (speculated), not a great deal many people could have put together a great movie.

Now, with that being said, the way the series has been going, i don't think the next movie will be able to draw a great director/writer or great actors. This series has sadly taken the dark path towards being a B-movie series. I think AVP:R did some good things in a move to the right direction. Ex. Ian Whyte doing a tremendous job with his performance, the FX company really taking the predator's look back to how he was originally meant to be. But sadly, the bad things about it vastly overshadow any of the good things. So its a catch 22 you see. In order to make this franchise great again, Fox needs to do everything right like more money better actors, writers and director(s). BUT, the past prohibits these from becoming a reality. Unless Fox is able to find no name actors that are the next big thing, and a no name director that is the next Ridley Scott or Steven Spielberg with the little money they are willing to throw at it, we aren't going to get anything more than a B movie feel like its something were supposed to see on the Sci Fi channel on thursday nights.

Just my 2 cents. Carry on.

KEITH

I think Stan Winston should direct this new movie and that we get somoone like m. night shaynaman (sp?) or Sam Rami to write it. I also think that SWS should do the special effects. Then, hire some good/KNOWN actors (someone like tom jane from the punisher would be cool). Think about it, that would be LEGIT!

get the general idea from the comic books, but lets step aside from whats already been written and go off in a new direction. If this were to happen, i guarentee that AVP 3 would be a success.
