Geeze!
Why does everyone want these things to follow the books or comics? Just leave the ****** books and comics out of the whole movie scene! Predator was ******* awesome without a book to go by. P2 was great without a book to go by. Then look what happened when they started using the books and comics as a loose base.....AVP & AVP:R. Is this all starting to make sense?
You see the movies that have been made that are the most memorable in the last say 5 years. They all had great writers, great directors, great FX companies, and great actors. You don't have to go out and get these big name actors to make a good movie (think Aragorn from LOTR, wasn't that well known until after these movies but he fit the part perfect). Throw a decent amount of money at it. You look at all the big blockbusters that are making tons of money, they all had a good amount of money for the budget, thus why they were able to get the good directors, good actors, good writers. With a 40 mil budget (speculated), not a great deal many people could have put together a great movie.
Now, with that being said, the way the series has been going, i don't think the next movie will be able to draw a great director/writer or great actors. This series has sadly taken the dark path towards being a B-movie series. I think AVP:R did some good things in a move to the right direction. Ex. Ian Whyte doing a tremendous job with his performance, the FX company really taking the predator's look back to how he was originally meant to be. But sadly, the bad things about it vastly overshadow any of the good things. So its a catch 22 you see. In order to make this franchise great again, Fox needs to do everything right like more money better actors, writers and director(s). BUT, the past prohibits these from becoming a reality. Unless Fox is able to find no name actors that are the next big thing, and a no name director that is the next Ridley Scott or Steven Spielberg with the little money they are willing to throw at it, we aren't going to get anything more than a B movie feel like its something were supposed to see on the Sci Fi channel on thursday nights.
Just my 2 cents. Carry on.
