I am looking for a measuring tool like this. I saw a lot protractors, measuring gauges, etc. Nothing like this before. It does not seem made from scratch. Def a found object. I also watch for marine navigation tools, not lucky so far.

Looking at this sextant, you can see elements from both sides of the navigation system. The telescope on one side and the arc for the other. Makes me wonder if it’s one item broken up…

That's what I was talking about: marine navigation tools. They meant to look this prop like and old sextant, that's the whole metaphor. I really doubt those parts belong to a sextant. None of the ones I checked, have a extendable "Limbo", which is the name of that part.

About that, that part is very small. Seems bigger, but If you check the real camera, that part should not be more than 4" longer

I've also managed to snag a couple of these cameras. One's a Sonar, one's just a standard, so it's missing the top front part, but I'll find a use for it. Any luck identifying any of the other greeblies on the tool?

Yep, that's the SX-70 Sonar.
I remember seeing the regular SX-70 model in a few places in Blade Runner but not specifically the sonar version. Very cool they used it in Andor as well.
Fun camera to use too.

I can't find any pics. Trent can you tell me where in Blade Runner it is?

Gonna need to add it to my list.

Okay can someone help me? Is this camera/scanner used anywhere other than the scene where the guy shows it to Andor in Ep 5?

I have to admit I Fast Forwarded through this scene the first time, but I like what the kid said.

I wonder what kind of book he was using for his "Manifesto."

Thanks

It's shown more clearly in Episode 6. I'll post some shots.

What's fun about this prop is it's actually discussed. What it is, why it's good, etc. Props don't always actually get that much attention in the SW films and series.

No luck yet. Have been looking everywhere. Sextants, angle gauges, etc. so far, nothing.
