Abe Sapien- New Painting Pics on 2nd page

Thank you everyone for all the great compliments!

Ekino- I just used plastic and a ball stylus for the skin texture. It took a while, but it was worth it.

BATS- I would love for you to PM me or find me on facebook so we can have a chat about the paint. I am the first to admit that painting is my weakest point, and love to hear where I can improve. I think I know what you mean about the different glosses- I had planned to buy some 5 minute epoxy and brush it on the eyes, nostrils, and inner lips. However, I am not sure what to do for the gills to separate them from the rest of him.
As for the speckling, I could use the chip brush method with some alcohol activated paints. I'm not sure which colors I'd use, maybe an olive, light grey, and dark purple? I would be worried that it would look overdone since i would be putting it on top of everything else I already have on there. I can always seal everything first and wipe it away if I dont like it. Thank you for showing me where I could improve!

That's a fantastic sculpt. If you don't mind I'm gonna shoot your pics off to Doug when I get home.

I'll PM you since I'm not a facebooker, thats my wifes thing. Soon as I dig out my hellboy/spectral archive I'll shoot you a message.

In the mean time these two pics are great reference

I wouldn't call it improvement as much as I would call it refining or honing your current skill set. That's a critical and the most common misstep, its great to be able to do it all, but that is miniscule in comparison to being able to do any of it well, and you can spend a lifetime honing just one or two skills.

the chip brush splatter is perfect, as are the alcohols while your learning
alcohols and inks are easy to use, clean off when you hate them and to use for washes

another technique is waxing the finished piece to get the desired sheen right.... waxes, oils and releases are used all the time to get a certain sheen that paint can't always give you

I'm all for seeing you do the cheeks in silicone/clear urethane because nothing takes pieces further than multi medias combined. So if you have the time to do that, for at least your own personal copy it would absolutely be worth it.

And I need to apologize to Rich (Fettster) because his Abe was also incredibly outstanding, since his sculpt included more of the chest and back, in true bust
fashion, I may have to learn a little heavier towards his being the best ever replica.

Soon as Tess freakles and highlights hers, it will be neck and neck

This is gorgeous-I would assume you are very proud of your work. An amazing sculpt, to be sure.

Thank you everyone for the comments and support, sorry I haven't messaged back yet bats, I got overwhelmed with my real job :) I'll be sure to get back soon
