1:1 Scale Snowspeeder (T-47 Airspeeder) build.

There is so much going on in that cockpit.

How is he sitting like that? Is he just turning his torso, or is open space to the side to put his legs there?
yeah it looks like he is totally sideways in there.. and playing with something like a controller or something.. its interesting. never seen that photo before.. hes in the back seat too, it appears.

There seem to be two Speeder "Hero" versions made. This one ( i call this one the Jules Verne model) and the other one used for all the interior shots and also used in Finland for the crashed prop.

The photo below is the Jules Verne version dumped at Disney. You can see how MH would have turned his legs under the wide sides.

Started on the 8 Track player for the cockpit detailing. Thanks to forum member Wavey for pointing out this audio relic that is attached to the top front edge of the cockpit. The best view of this prop is a BTS photo of MH being shot in profile. The accurate measurements from Wavey have also reaffirmed i am building to the same size as the film prop as shown on the photo comparison below matching the 8 track player width to the cockpit width.

Great size comparison pic MrV! A great repro of the player and the dash greeblies too!! There had to be an 8-Track in the OT somewhere and there's no better way to listen to James Last's Greatest Hits whilst snagging a metal elephant.

The round dash displays remind me of the handheld Astro Wars game. Well, the Falcon does have Pong.

I'm still puzzling the iphone display. I tried squinting at it like a Magic Eye poster and now I be dizzy :D

I was going to use rubber matting to line the floor but due to weight i used some aluminium tread plate at 1.6mm thick. The factory cut it to shape with no burred edges and it all sat in place nicely. This stuff will be much easier to clean out than rubber matt.

Started to add some internal detailing including plumbing hose, swimming pool filter parts and some thing off a truck that is a large plastic cover.

Thanks for the comments joberg!
Started playing around with the dash board getting the old ipads and iphone to fit where they need to. A lot of filling and sanding to go. I am not sure about the final colour though... Some screen caps show the dash being silver (The battle scenes) then the Echo base scenes it looks dark grey.....
At this stage i think i am going for a gun metal type colour.....
Thoughts anybody.....

i wouldnt think its metal. I have never been in a cockpit where its been metallic paint, it messes with your vision when light shines on it. It would have to be flat color of some kind. Grey is the normal color. Black is secondary around instrumentation.
Glares from light reflecting into cameras can be unexpected too creating lens flaring and hot spots. I would say large areas are colors. I would think the designers stayed with things they saw in real life so i doubt there is any metallic color in large quantities in the cockpit around instrumentation.

I realize that SW has plenty of gear looking items or other metallic greeblies that are just for interest, and droids have their own schemes with plenty of metal, but light reflects poorly into eyes when metallics or metals are present inside cockpits outside small levers or dials or bezels.
I also realize that the whole Naboo scheme was metal ships, but that is very specific to status from what i can recall in the films.
If i can find anything you don't have ill let you know. But i think you have a great handle on things.
Nice work.

For my two cents, the 3 round units nearest his right hand in the pic where he is turned sideways look like deep sea fishing reels with the sides taken off. Two of them even look like they still have the line leveler and catch lock bar. But the mind plays tricks when you stare long enough. However the comment about the vcr made me think it is likely they could be film tape splicing equipment or internal film projector parts.

When i read that it makes total sense. I think i will just continue the interior grey for the dash. If it was "Glam Rock Luke" maybe he would have had metallic....
