Limited Run Star Trek TOS Science Scanner Run for 2024 - New Waiting List Started!

I'm now working on a new waiting list with a start date around July 1st. They should be done some time in August. If anyone is interested in getting a buildup or kit, just post a reply and I will add you to the waiting list.

Have a good weekend!

New waiting list updated.
I was able to acquire the aluminum I needed early, so I will start machining a new set of scanners this week.

This is also known as the "alternate" medical or "Spock" scanner that can be seen in these episodes:

A private Little War (Medical Scanner) (Used briefly at the beginning of the episode on Spock)
The Ultimate Computer (Sciences Scanner) (Used briefly near the middle of the episode to analyze the M9 equipment, which is my personal favorite scene!)

I thought this might be something fun to put together, since these are not commonly found. :)

If you're interested in getting one, just post a reply or send me a pm.

I think a color wheel with a motor is over doing it, so I will be using a RGB LED instead.

I've created a research thread here:

Special thanks goes out to jgk1701 for helping out with the initial project and parts research. ;)

Latest update (6/10/24): The current run is finished and all scanners are sold. I have started a new waiting list. Please post a reply for either a kit or buildup if you're interested in getting on the list.
Here's what is featured with these new scanners: Total weight is less than 3 ounces. New LED RGB technology displaying a total of 7 different color variations including purple. All colors flash quickly and then "pulse" randomly.

Updated Kit for 2024 (Includes everything pictured):

This is just a quick update. All of the tubes have been cut out and cleaned up. Five of the end caps have been machined so far. I should have those done in about 2 to 3 weeks.
I've received all of the electronics and other materials necessary to finish the scanners.

At this point, I'm looking at a ship date of August 3rd for kits and buildups. If you're interested in a kit, please send me a pm or post before or by 8/3 so I can avoid building all of the scanners.

Just for grins, here's some progress photos. To get in the spirit of things, I found one of my old Star Trek TOS sound track CDs, so I've been listening to it while machining:

I just finished cutting out the remaining disks. I will spend the rest of next week cleaning them up and then I'll get started on detailing the tubes.

For those of you who get MeTV, they will be airing "Friday's Child" tonight. Have a great weekend, guys! ;)

This is just a quick update: The caps are done. I will start machining the tube details this week and possibly into next week until they're done. Once done, I'll start wiring up the scanners and get the kits shipped.
